Discover Svetla: Manor Farm History, Forests and Events

Světlá is a destination for travelers who want to combine landscapes with a vivid sense of local history. The cadastral area lies in the geological depression of the Boskovická brázda; to the east, it is bordered by the rising hills of the Drahanská vrchovina. In the village, you will find historical traces, events and opportunities for a variety of day plans. The combination of the geological setting, rural architectural history and local program gives a stay several distinct focal points.

Manor Farm, Barns and Farmsteads

Several buildings of the former manor farm have been preserved in Světlá. The manor farm was founded in 1563 by the abbot of Hradisko Monastery and rebuilt in the Baroque style in 1721. A group of log barns dating from the 18th century has also been preserved. Several farmsteads date from around the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries. If you are traveling with children, this makes it possible to discover different architectural and historical layers in one place.

Chapel and Monuments in the Village

The Chapel of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary dates from 1872 and was reconstructed in 1996. The monument to Emperor Franz Joseph I was reconstructed and subsequently reinstalled in the village. A local resident restored the monument to František Palacký in the 1970s. The “Starý kříž” stands on a field path about 250 m west below Světlá. Together with the chapel, the two monuments and the cross form various stops for exploring the cultural history of the village and its immediate surroundings.

Events, Ponds and Forests

The regular local events program includes the “Běh Světlou” race. The “Okolo Malé Hané 2025” cycling tour included a refreshment stop at the event grounds in Světlá. The Světelská pouť pilgrimage festival, held from August 16 to 18, 2025, was scheduled to feature football, the ABC dance event, a Sunday country gathering and the program item “útok žáků.” The dates therefore offer different emphases, ranging from sport and dance to other types of events.

The forests around Světlá invite you to take long walks and offer mushrooms and wild berries. Regular fish harvesting takes place at the ponds behind the municipal office and in the center of Světlá. The forests and ponds complement the historic village setting with their own nature experiences. At the time of publication, there was neither a designated cycle route nor a marked hiking trail in the cadastral area. For planning purposes, it is therefore advisable to coordinate your preferred type of exploration with the specific local information available.

Orientation and Choosing Your Stay

Bus connections are also part of getting oriented. Route 251 runs between Jevíčko and Skalice nad Svitavou via Velké Opatovice, Světlá and Boskovice. Route 680794 runs between Moravská Třebová and Brno via Jevíčko, Světlá and Boskovice. The two routes connect Světlá with places in different directions and help put its local position within the transport network into perspective.
