Discover Rohozec
Rohozec combines a historically shaped village centre with distinctive landscapes and several opportunities to explore the surrounding area on foot or by bicycle. For planning your trip, the contrast is particularly interesting: the Chapel of Saints Cyril and Methodius stands in the village, while the southwestern cadastral area contains a nature monument, field margins and old agricultural terraces. There is also a wetland, a signposted cycle route and a green-marked hiking trail along the edge of the area.
Historic Village Centre and Local Tradition
The Chapel of Saints Cyril and Methodius, built in 1861, stands in the historic centre of Rohozec. Its three-tiered tower is notable; in front of the building there is also a stone cross with the crucified Christ. The sacred building is therefore a specific point of interest if you want to get to know the village not only as a starting point for activities, but also through its history.
Rohozec was established through medieval colonisation as a circular village. Former farmsteads were arranged around the village green. This historic village structure gives the settlement its own character and can be explored easily on a walk through the centre. On 5 July, the feast day of Saints Cyril and Methodius, a local pilgrimage takes place in Rohozec. It is one of the notable dates in the local cultural life.
Nature between Svídovec and the Wetland
The Svídovec nature monument lies in the southwestern part of the cadastral area. Field margins and old agricultural terraces have been preserved on its southern slopes. These features also make the landscape interesting for visitors who, when travelling through Czechia, seek not only major attractions but also evolved forms of the cultural landscape.
Another natural area is the Rohozecký mokřad wetland. It consists of five pools and wet meadows along a small stream and lies about 300 metres southwest of the built-up area. Svídovec and Rohozecký mokřad thus represent two different sides of the surroundings: here, slopes bearing traces of historic land management; there, a water-shaped habitat close to the village.
Cycling, Hiking and Shared Activities
Signposted Cycle Route 1 runs through Rohozec along road III/37913. A locally signposted connection branches off from this marked cycle route and leads to Hradčany and Malhostovice, keeping as far as possible from the roads. Cyclists in Rohozec therefore have not only one documented route, but also another signposted connection for exploring the surrounding area.
A green-marked hiking trail runs along the western edge of the cadastral area on the Tišnov–Železné–Jamné–Rašov route. As an additional idea for an excursion, the Železné výhledy cycling tour offers views over Unín, Rohozec, Bukovice and Rašov. It thus connects the village name with a larger landscape experience, without reducing Rohozec itself to its cycle routes.
The Rohozec sports complex is also available for a varied day programme. It includes a volleyball court, a small-sided football pitch and a children's playground. Social and cultural outdoor events also take place at the sports complex next to the fire-water reservoir. When choosing accommodation, families can therefore select between different focuses, including historic discoveries, observing nature, exercise and local community life.
Rohozec as an Accommodation Destination
When choosing accommodation in Rohozec, it is worth deciding based on which aspect of the village is most important for your trip. The historic centre with its chapel and pilgrimage supports a cultural focus; Svídovec and Rohozecký mokřad represent landscape and nature; and cycling and hiking trails add active excursions to the offering. This allows you to adapt your stay to your preferred daily rhythm without mixing up the individual local features.
