Discover Neslovice

Neslovice uniquely combines sacred architectural history, protected landscape, and various destinations for discovering the village. The focus is on historic buildings, while on the outskirts, Patočkova hora is a natural monument and the Indian Playground is a versatile recreational area. The Stezka permoníků trail leads through Neslovice and Kratochvilka; afterwards, turn right onto the educational trail “Naučná stezka Rosickou historií”.

Church, chapel, and a festive local tradition

The parish Church of the Nativity of the Virgin Mary is a late Baroque building dating from 1782 to 1784. However, its history did not end with its original construction: in the second half of the 19th century, it was extended by the Chapel of the Holy Sepulchre. This makes it possible to trace the development of the religious character of the village over several decades in a single building.

The pilgrimage celebrating the Nativity of the Virgin Mary takes place on 8 September and is known as “rozmarýnové hody”. The fixed date and its distinctive name make this custom a clearly recognizable part of the local tradition. In the centre of Neslovice, there is also a bell tower with the Classicist Chapel of Saint Gotthard and Saint Florian, dating from the early 19th century.

Another small testament to the region’s architectural and religious history is the Classicist wayside shrine known as “Boží muka”. It stands approximately one kilometre southeast of the outskirts of Neslovice, on the road towards Hlína. The approximate distance remains part of the orientation and should not be understood as an exact village boundary.

Patočkova hora: natural monument at the village entrance

Patočkova hora lies directly above the road at the entrance to Neslovice from the direction of Tetčice. The protected summit is a natural monument and has preserved remnants of the former steppe vegetation on a delimited hectare since 1984. The preserved steppe vegetation includes, above all, the large-flowered pasque flower. Thus, the focus here is not only on a distinctive landscape feature, but also on a clearly defined habitat with a documented botanical peculiarity.

From Patočkova hora, there is a view of more than half of the municipalities in the Kahan microregion. The view is therefore one of the independent reasons to experience this part of Neslovice. The location above the road and the protected area also give the natural monument a distinctly different character from the buildings in the village centre.

Play area and routes for different discoveries

The Indian Playground is located on Žleby Street in Neslovice. The Indian Playground includes a large play area with various play elements, a training area, a skateboard ramp, and a rope centre. The individual components represent different forms of activity, without reducing the site to just one attraction.

The route running between Neslovice and Tetčice is also interesting for orientation. In the section near Neslovice, it passes through pastureland and includes a cattle shelter. Thus, in addition to churches and the natural monument, there are also routes with various spatial connections.
