Česká combines a varied landscape with tangible traces of local history and a lively events calendar. Landscape between the Ponávka Valley and Baba Nature Park

Česká lies in the Bobravská vrchovina highlands, more precisely in the Řečkovicko-kuřimský prolom subregion. Along the eastern edge of the cadastral area, the Ponávka Valley stretches out with a cascade of several ponds. There are also wetlands with numerous marsh plants; frogs and grass snakes live in the area. In addition to the walking experience, the landscape therefore offers tangible opportunities for observing nature.

The marked Stezka zdraví health trail leads through the Ponávka Valley and is equipped with information boards. This provides a trail section with additional explanatory information for a more leisurely exploration of the surroundings. At the western edge of Česká, the wooded Kuřimská hora ridge forms the cadastral boundary. It belongs to Baba Nature Park. The Šiberná natural monument is located on the northern cadastral boundary.

The hilly landscape of Baba Nature Park is also located near Česká and is suitable for relaxation and active leisure. A tourist route between Kuřim and Bystrc runs through the nature park. If you would like to vary your excursions, both the valley with its bodies of water and the wooded hilly landscape are available as different areas for exploration.

History and local culture

A prominent testimony to the local history is the stone bell tower in Česká. It was built at the end of the 18th century; a chapel was added in 1902. The bell itself was cast in 1813 and brought from Brno. At the intersection of the roads to Lelekovice, there is also a stone cross erected by the municipality of Cinsendorf in 1883.

The monument to the victims of the First and Second World Wars in Česká was created in 1921. Together with the bell tower, chapel and stone cross, it does not form an arbitrary mix of sights, but instead points to different periods and forms of local remembrance. For a stay with an interest in local history, it is therefore worth paying attention not only to the landscape but also to these small, tangible testimonies.

Festivals, theatre and special events

The Hody festival takes place in Česká every year. Pálení čarodějnic, held in Česká, is particularly popular with children. The Pohádkový les event also takes place on the occasion of Children's Day. These events emphasize different aspects than the landscape trails and make the events calendar an independent part of the locality.

The local Čedivadlo is also gaining popularity. Another unusual event is Přejezd Moravy: it runs from the border crossing into Poland to Česká, and the route is approximately 150 kilometres long.
