Prštice between castle culture, nature and active experiences

Prštice offers a range of reasons to visit: exhibitions in the castle, an unusual sundial, religious culture, ponds of interest to nature enthusiasts, as well as golf and sports. This means the town can be explored in very different ways depending on your interests.

Castle, sundial and cultural discoveries

A good starting point for exploring the town is Prštice Castle. The exhibitions on the first floor are freely accessible and complement the castle’s historic character with a specific reason to visit. Since 2016, the sundial in Prštice Castle Park has formed its centrepiece. It displays a calendar and Central European Time from 4:00 to 20:00. It is therefore not merely an element of the park’s design, but also a distinctive feature that can be examined more closely during a stroll.

The Aviatik Gallery offers further cultural impressions. It displays paintings, graphics, jewellery, ceramics and sculptures. The Chapel of “St. John of Nepomuk” is also a venue for regular services of the Roman Catholic and Czechoslovak Hussite Churches. It can also be used for religious and classical concerts. Visitors who come to Prštice during an event will also encounter Jánské hody, one of the town’s regular social events. The sundial is part of local outdoor celebrations, including hody, Christmas programmes and masquerade festivals.

Ponds along the Šatava Stream and Bobrava Nature Park

The natural side of Prštice can be seen at the ponds along the Šatava Stream. They provide a habitat for aquatic animals, invertebrates and waterfowl. One clear restriction is important for visitors finding their way around: the ponds of the Biocentre are not fishing grounds; commercial fishing there is considered poaching. The natural area is therefore not described as a fishing destination, but primarily by its function as a habitat.

Prštice lies on the eastern edge of Bobrava Nature Park. This location complements the cultural attractions with a landscape connection and also makes the town interesting for visitors who wish to combine nature observation and local culture during their stay.

Golf and sports as further reasons to visit

Castle Golf Club Prštice has a 6-hole golf academy with six teeing areas. Facilities include grass playing areas, a putting green, a chipping green and a bunker. The club also organises open days for the public. Alongside the castle and nature themes, this provides a clearly defined active focus without limiting the town to a single type of trip.

The departments of TJ Sokol Prštice also offer sports activities to the public throughout the year, except during school holidays. For planning a stay, this information is just as relevant as the cultural dates: depending on the occasion, a visit may focus more strongly on exhibitions, religious services, outdoor celebrations, golf or sports.
