Pozořice – Culture and Nature Around Poustka

Pozořice combines distinctive cultural monuments with a landscape where the Poustka educational trail, forests and protected natural areas make different kinds of holiday possible. In the town stands the Baroque Church of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary, completed in 1724. Outside the built-up area lie the remains of the Gothic Vildenberk Castle. Other attractions include Poustka conglomerate hill, the Rékoví educational trail and the mixed forests in the northern part of the municipality.

Culture Between the Town and the Castle Ruins

The Church of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary is a clear cultural landmark in Pozořice. Its completion in 1724 gives the townscape a precisely dated Baroque accent. The former chateau in Pozořice is also part of the municipality's cultural heritage. The historic character of the town is therefore reflected not just in a single building, but in several different traces of the past.

The remains of the Gothic Vildenberk Castle lie outside the built-up area. A tourist shelter stands below the castle ruins; the existing hiking trail markings have also been renewed. For your planning, this creates a clear distinction between the cultural sites in the town and the historic destination outside the built-up area, without suggesting that the two locations are the same.

Poustka: Educational Trail and Landscape Views

Poustka is a distinctive conglomerate hill with diverse biotopes and has been registered as a significant landscape feature since 2000. There are four information boards and benches on Poustka. From there, visitors can enjoy views of the Hostýn Hills and the church in Pozořice. The site thus combines nature observation, interpretation of the landscape and a view back towards the municipality's architectural landmark.

The Poustka educational trail is less than 1 km long and includes five information boards. They cover the local living and non-living nature, history and the development of the landscape. The trail thus focuses on a clearly defined combination of these natural, historical and landscape themes.

Woodland Landscape and Starting Points for Excursions

The Rékoví educational trail begins on the road from Pozořice to Viničné Šumice, at the junction with the Koválovický stream on the edge of the forest. This specific starting point complements Poustka with another opportunity to experience the landscape along a designated educational trail.

Mixed forests cover the northern part of the municipality of Pozořice, approximately two-thirds of its total area. When there is snow cover, they are suitable for ski excursions; in summer, for walks, cycling trips and mushroom picking. This seasonal distinction is important when choosing a travel profile: depending on the time of year, different ways of enjoying the landscape take centre stage.

Pozořice is also a starting point for visiting Říčky Nature Park and the Moravian Karst Protected Landscape Area.
