Lubě: Stream, Rock Formation and Trails in the Blansko District

Lubě combines a distinctive watercourse, unusual rock formations and trails for different ways of experiencing the surrounding area. About 1 kilometre from Lubě, Krkatá bába lies in the Žernovnická hrást, a rock formation above the left bank of the Lubě Stream. The formations extend for approximately 500 metres along this bank. At the southern end of the Krkatá bába gorge are several rock towers and blocks up to 15 metres high. The rock itself also makes the site special. The formations consist of reddish Rokytná conglomerates from the Boskovice Furrow, dating from the Carboniferous to the Permian. Here, striking forms meet the history of the rock. The site is also home to rare, regionally critically endangered thermophilous plant species. These include common juniper, one-seeded hawthorn, the two-leaved gnat orchid and quaking grass.

Trails for cyclists and hikers

Krkatá bába can be reached via a walkable tourist trail located more than 250 metres from the road. This detail is part of the distinctive nature of the access and sets the rock formation apart from a destination situated directly beside a road. Cycle Route 5268 also passes through Lubě. Another option is the “Údolím říčky Lubě” route, which is suitable for hikers and cyclists. It runs in the vicinity of the Moravian Karst. This allows you to choose between a destination directly in the village, a rock formation on the stream bank and a route that incorporates the wider landscape of the Moravian Karst.

Culture in the village

The Chapel of the Nativity of the Virgin Mary is part of the local identity. It is a locally significant cultural heritage site in Lubě and complements the natural attractions with a cultural point of reference.
