Sobůlky – Culture, Wine and Landscape in Kyjovsko

Between the Hillfort, Vineyards and the White Carpathians

Sobůlky combines distinctive cultural monuments with a varied landscape in Kyjovsko. Of particular interest is the Vala archaeological site, where a prehistoric hillfort and preserved fortifications have survived. The remains of a medieval castle adjoin these fortifications. The annual cycle also preserves local traditions. The Martinské hody festival takes place in the first half of November, lasts four days and maintains traditional customs from Sobůlky. Around the turn of April and May, local winemakers also organize a wine tasting. It offers a wide selection of samples from surrounding municipalities and wine-growing regions. These two events represent different sides of the town: living traditions on the one hand and regional wine culture on the other.

Walks, Bike Rides and the Wine Trail

The surroundings of Sobůlky are suitable for walks, hikes and bike rides, as well as cross-country skiing in winter. The Kyjov Wine Trail offers a specific way to connect the wine landscape with the surrounding area. It passes through Sobůlky and then descends into the valley of the Kyjovka River. The route thus explicitly makes the transition from the town into a lower-lying landscape part of its course.

Another excursion idea is the Syslíkovo království route. It features viewpoints and interactive elements, as well as a large slide, a cableway and a public fire pit.
