Drásov: Church, Lubě Floodplain and Trails for Explorers

Drásov combines cultural history with a varied landscape and several very different ways to explore the area. Depending on whether you are interested in historical traces, nature observation, physical activity or regional traditions, you can focus on different aspects during your stay.

Church, Prehistory and Living Traditions

One particularly distinctive cultural monument is the state-protected Church of the Elevation of the Holy Cross. The single-nave building has a square western tower dating from the mid-13th century. Its Late Romanesque core also dates from the mid-13th century, while the chancel was built in the Gothic style. The church is also associated with a pilgrimage held on the Sunday around 14 September.

Drásov's history reaches back even further. The cadastral area contains clear settlement traces from throughout prehistory, beginning with the Paleolithic. Extensive settlements with cremation burial sites from the Late and Final Bronze Age and from the Roman period lay north and northeast of the present-day settlement. Those interested in early settlement and regional history will therefore find more here than a single historic building.

Local traditions include the Drásovské hody festival. The event is open to the general public, both in traditional dress and without it, and includes the erection of the maypole. The Sunday program culminates at 2:00 p.m. with a procession from the school.

Lubě Floodplain, Spring and Parkland

The village lies in the central part of the Boskovice Furrow, which is bordered by the peripheral areas of the Bohemian-Moravian Highlands. In the cadastral area of Drásov, the bedrock of the furrow consists of Permian deposits, particularly arkose sandstones, Baliny conglomerates and clay shales. This gives the landscape a geological dimension that extends beyond the visible paths and green areas.

The section of the Lubě's lower course continues through the cadastral areas of Malhostovice, Všechovice and Skalička. Along its entire length, it has continuous bankside vegetation consisting mainly of black and grey alders. Species found there include the grasshopper warbler and the spotted flycatcher.

The Drásovská studánka spring lies at the foot of a gentle slope on the edge of the Lubě floodplain. It consists of a spring, a small stream and park-like groves made up predominantly of native trees. The area covers 2 hectares and lies at an elevation of 268 to 280 metres. In the 1990s, a park was also created north of Drásov by landscaping an area called Močidla. The spring water is considered safe for health and is also suitable for infants. Especially during the First Republic, the park was a venue for various celebrations, entertainments and open-air theatre.

Trails for Different Interests

The Drásovská stopa is intended for hikers and cyclists of all ages. Short routes supplemented by competitions are designed for parents with children; longer routes are aimed at fit individuals and groups. The event thus explicitly distinguishes between different route lengths and participant groups, so not everyone has to follow the same format. On 23 May 2026, the Drásovská stopa was scheduled to take place for the 10th time.

The Naučná myslivecká FIT stezka Drásov has a different focus. It is an educational trail in the forest near Drásov with a focus on natural history and hunting, along with additional exercise elements. Those who want to combine physical activity with information stations and a thematic focus will find a different type of experience here than on the routes of the Drásovská stopa.

Regional products are also part of the local experience. At the Česnekové slavnosti festival organized by Farm Podal, visitors can traditionally taste the farm's garlic varieties and buy them, along with other farm products, directly from the farm.

For further travel planning, you can also consider Ivančice, Brezina, Ledce, Skalička, Kobylnice, Medlov, Prštice and Viničné Šumice.
