Blažovice Between Local History and Landscape

Its history can be seen in an old forge, a church, commemorative plaques and memorial sites; at the same time, paths lead through the Biocentrum and along sections of the Bitva tří císařů educational trail. Craftsmanship, Church and Memorial Sites

A distinctive testament to the local craft tradition is the Blažovická kovárna forge. It was built around 1770. After the Velvet Revolution, its function was resumed under a locksmith's licence; it was operated by the sixth and seventh generations of the Kašpařík family in Blažovice. The history of the place can also be read in the commemorative stone plaques. The oldest plaque reports that the farmstead burned down completely on 17 August 1604 and was rebuilt in 1607. Further commemorative stone plaques document that this farmstead belonged to the Dominican convent at Saint Anne's.

The Church of the Sacred Heart of Jesus, Kostel Nejsvětějšího Srdce Ježíšova, was consecrated on 10 June 1934 and dedicated to the Sacred Heart of Jesus. The current Stations of the Cross in the church were painted in 1954 by the local painter Rudolf Paulík. In the Blažovická zvonice bell tower, two commemorative plaques honour fallen French soldiers and their commanders, Pierre Castex and Colonel Jean Pierre Morland. At the northern entrance to the town, there is also the sculpture “Setkání” by the sculptor Mgr. Daniel Klose, consisting of four wooden pylons.

Another memorial site is Boží muka pod Starými vinohrady. The memorial commemorates the victims of the Battle of Austerlitz and the suffering of the inhabitants of the surrounding municipalities. The new memorial column was unveiled on 2 December 1992 at the southern edge of the cadastral area of Blažovice, at the crossroads of the paths from Prace to Křenovice and from Blažovice to Zbýšov.

Biocentrum, Pump Track and Historic Routes

For a quieter, landscape-focused activity, the Biocentrum offers a pond depression planted with aquatic plants that serves as a breeding site for protected amphibian species. The entire Biocentrum is suitable for relaxing Sunday walks and also includes an information board about the Bitvy tří císařů educational trail. Those who prefer more active pursuits will find a freely accessible pump track with an asphalt surface for cycling or riding a scooter in Blažovice. A skill zone is designed to improve bicycle control and riding technique.

The Bitva tří císařů educational trail includes the PS6 Blažovice–Jiříkovice section. This is connected with the decisive attack by French troops on the Pratecké návrší and Staré vinohrady areas during the Battle of Austerlitz. In addition, the 31-kilometre “Po slavkovském bojišti I” route passes through Blažovice, among other places. In this way, the town combines historical remembrance with a selection of routes and landscape points of interest, without requiring cultural discoveries and physical activity to be considered separately.
