Bdeněves between village history, the Mže and the cycling route

If you are looking for a place with a clearly recognizable village character, cultural history and a documented cycling connection, Bdeněves offers several different points of interest. The Chapel of St. Florian stands in the center of the village on the village square along a local road. At the same time, Bdeněves lies on the Mže, and the cycling route from Prague to Paris runs through the village. Chapel of St. Florian and village history

The single-nave Chapel of St. Florian dates from the second half of the 18th century. In front of the building stands a stone cross from 1889. The chapel is also a protected cultural monument. Its location on the village square makes it a specific point of reference for the village center, while its architectural history offers insight into the earlier development of Bdeněves. Bdeněves was already mentioned in documents of Kladruby Monastery in 1197.

Archaeological traces spanning many eras

The Bdeněves–Za Školou archaeological area offers a particularly broad perspective across time. Evidence has been found there from prehistoric times, the Linear Pottery culture, the Schusseriedská culture, the Bronze Age and Hallstatt period, the Nynická culture, the Early Hallstatt period, the earlier Roman Imperial period, as well as the Middle Ages and modern era, including the Early Middle Ages. For visitors interested in culture, this therefore represents not just a single historical period, but a succession of different eras.

Cycling route along the Mže

The cycling route from Prague to Paris runs through Bdeněves. The section between Bdeněves and Město Touškov is paved and includes a footbridge over the Mže. A solid surface and a crossing of the Mže are part of the route on this section. The cycling route connects Bdeněves and Město Touškov with the Mže river area. For a trip combining several interests, the cycling connection can be combined with a stay in the village center. When planning your day, the bridge can be considered a separate point along the route.

Hills and mountains in the surrounding area

The immediate surroundings of Bdeněves include the hill “(Čemínské lesy) [Újezd nade Mží]” and Dobrák Hill [Nýřany - Doubrava]. The wider regional surroundings also include Berdovna Mountain and Radyně Mountain. Alongside the Mže, hills and mountains are therefore also part of the regional landscape.
