Rochlov – Baroque château, château park and local culture

Rochlov combines a long history with a clear Baroque centrepiece. The first written mention dates back to 1379, while Rochlov Château, built as a Baroque château in 1711, provides the newer and particularly striking accent. The château park is located in the built-up area of Rochlov. The village landscape also includes restored orchards maintained by the municipality of Rochlov. The wayside shrines on the road from Kbelany to Rochlov deserve special attention. They are built of masonry and plastered, with an open lantern topped by a brick onion-shaped roof. Their unusual roof shape and open design make them small, clearly recognisable details of the local cultural landscape. For travel planning, this section is particularly interesting if you would like to notice not only a single building but also smaller historical testimonies along the village.

Cultural events in the château grounds

Various cultural events take place in the reconstructed Rochlov Château. The programme of “Baroko na Bylinkovém panství Rochlov” included guided walks with the feeding of llamas and other animals from the surrounding area. In this way, the programme combined the history of the château with a vivid activity that can also offer a distinct point of access for travellers with different interests.

Another part of the programme was a visit to a coffee roastery in the Baroque barn, combined with a conversation and a tasting. The event name refers to the Baroque character of the château grounds, while the individual programme items brought together different forms of experience. The programme took place in the château grounds in Rochlov in 2025 and was also announced there for 18 July 2026. The 11th meeting of owners and friends of historic vehicles in Rochlov was announced for 1 August 2026 from 9 a.m. As of 6 September 2026, both dates had already passed; they had previously been announced, but their actual occurrence has not been confirmed.

Traditions and an announced cycling centre

Local traditions in Rochlov include putting up the maypole. This custom complements the architectural sights with a communal, seasonal aspect. A cycling centre with a rental service for historic and modern bicycles for excursions in the nearby area is also intended to operate at the entrance to the Rochlov château grounds. The bicycle rental service should therefore be understood as an announced project, not as a confirmed current offering.
