Discover Lozice: Bridge, Trails and Local Traditions

Lozice stretches along both banks of the Novohradka stream. Lozice offers routes for cyclists and pedestrians, notable evidence of local history and local customs.

Between the Novohradka and the stone bridge

A distinctive landmark is the three-arch stone bridge. It was built in 1886 and is listed as a protected cultural monument. Its history may go back even further: the bridge may have replaced an older ford across the Novohradka. Those exploring the historical character of Lozice will therefore find here not only a structure, but also a tangible connection to the development of the river crossing. Other architectural points of interest can be found in the village itself. The Baroque entrance gate at House No. 16 is a registered architectural and sculptural monument. The Evangelical church is the architectural landmark of Lozice. Together with the bridge, these structures provide several clearly recognisable stops for a walk through the village’s history.

Cycling, hiking and exercise

For active days, cycle route 4119 between Lovětín and Pardubice passes through Lozice. Another option is the 9 km circular route “S Divišem za výhledy”. It is suitable for trekking and cross-country cyclists as well as pedestrians, and also passes through Lozice. Along the way, hikers can visit the old stone bridge. The route thus combines a specific sporting activity with a historical destination. The Daňkova silácká stezka also runs through Lozice; it is also called Silácká stezka or Daňkova stezka. It has five stations with exercises for balance and the abdominal and arm muscles. The modernised children’s playground complements the facilities with swings, a carousel, a play ship, a slide, climbing equipment and covered seating areas.

Local traditions throughout the year

The cultural life of Lozice also takes its own local forms. Vrkání and Jidáš were revived as a local Easter tradition in 2026, continuing a long-standing custom that forms part of the cultural heritage. During Vrkání in 2026, the children went through the entire municipality of Lozice at 7:30 a.m., 12:30 p.m. and 6:00 p.m., visiting every house; each round lasted about one hour. During the 2026 Jidáš procession, the participants made their way through Lozice. In front of the local inn, the straw costume was symbolically burned. Around All Souls’ Day, the Municipality of Lozice and the volunteer fire brigade also regularly organise the night game “Bludičkování”. Lozice thus combines riverbanks, cycling and hiking routes, a playground, protected buildings and living local traditions.
