Licibořice – Nature, Cycling Routes and Babiččin dvoreček

Licibořice combines protected landscapes, marked trails and remarkable details from local life. The range of activities is particularly varied, encompassing nature observation, cycling, hiking and cultural and historical discoveries. It also includes places such as Babiččin dvoreček, where traditional animal husbandry is brought to life, as well as the Church of St. Michael the Archangel with several preserved architectural features.

Nature between Boušovka and Krkanka

One important natural area is Boušovka. This site of community importance lies in the cadastral area of Licibořice and overlaps with the Boušovka Natural Monument. In the Slavická obora game reserve, Boušovka is also a small forest pond. Old oak avenues line the paths and pond embankments, giving the landscape a distinctive appearance.

The shallow, sunny shores of Boušovka provide a habitat for the rare yellow-spotted whiteface dragonfly. Those interested in protected habitats and specific wildlife observations will therefore find a natural feature here that goes beyond an ordinary landscape description.

The Krkanka Nature Reserve also extends into the cadastral area of the municipality of Licibořice. It encompasses a morphologically highly varied area with a deep gorge formed by the Chrudimka and its tributaries. Krkanka is also a breeding ground for eagle owls. The combination of a gorge landscape and a rare bird of prey makes this natural area a distinct attraction around Licibořice.

Babiččin dvoreček: Farm and Animals

Babiččin dvoreček offers a different kind of experience. The site is located on a more than 400-year-old farm in Licibořice and opened to the public in May 2012. Traditional farm animals are kept on the premises, including goats, sheep, cattle and turkeys.

Visitors can see, pet and feed the animals up close. Dědečkova obůrka, with its forest animals, is also part of the experience described there. Licibořice therefore focuses not only on the open landscape, but also on a specific place where traditional animal husbandry and direct encounters come together.

Church, Bell Tower and Local Details

The Church of St. Michael the Archangel is a single-nave building with a rectangular floor plan and a small apse. Its entrance portal has original wooden, double-leaf doors decorated with carvings. Statues stand in niches on both sides of the façade. The townscape is complemented by a Baroque-remodeled bell tower in Licibořice.

These details are ideal for a quiet cultural stop between nature experiences and walks. Rather than looking at just one building, visitors can pay attention to the floor plan, portal, façade niches and bell tower.

Cycling and Hiking

Two designated routes pass through Licibořice for exploring the area by bicycle. Cycling Route 4112 runs through the village between Horní Bradlo and Sezemice. Cycling Route 4177 also passes through Licibořice. In addition, a yellow-marked hiking trail leads through the municipal districts of Šiškovice and Slavice in the municipality of Licibořice, from Slatiňany toward the trail junction in Horní Bradlo.
