Pavlovice u Přerova – between Haná, Valašsko and cultural history

Pavlovice u Přerova lies on a prominent spur of the Kelčská pahorkatina and on the border between Haná and Valašsko in the Záhoří area. You can choose between visible monuments, archaeological traces and a traditional event.

Landscape and marked cycling routes

Marked cycling routes 6035 from Grymov via Radslavice and Pavlovice to Pod Krásnicí and 6062 from Pavlovice u Přerova to Bezuchov pass through Pavlovice. Cultural history in the village

The present-day Church of St. Giles was built in 1885–1886; the tower from 1555 survives from the previous building. Three historical tombstones that have survived to this day are placed in the entrance area of the church. The preserved tower thus retains a structural element from the 16th century, while the present church building belongs to the late 19th century. Elements from the 16th, 18th and 19th centuries therefore stand side by side at the church site.

The chateau complex in Pavlovice u Přerova was built by Baron Alfred Skene. The chateau complex includes a Neogothic garden pavilion and an entrance gate known as “Předzámčí”. The chateau of Pavlovice u Přerova has been protected as a cultural monument since 2 February 1994 under registration number ÚSKP 10334/8-3535.

A listed ensemble of three Baroque statues in Pavlovice documents the development of sculpture in the Olomouc region during the second quarter of the 18th century. Together with the church, it creates a place where Baroque sculpture and 19th-century church architecture stand side by side.

Archaeological and medieval traces

Only a levelled residential platform and, to the east, a still recognisable remnant of a ditch approximately 1 metre deep remain of the 14th-century fortress in Pavlovice. The medieval fortification of Hausberk was located in the Zámčisko cadastral area on the northern edge of the Záhoří forest and was surrounded by a rampart and a ditch. The fortress and Hausberk thus represent two medieval fortified sites with different surviving traces: here, a residential platform has been levelled, while there, the rampart and ditch define the surviving layout.

The Přísahanec site also reaches far back in time: stone tools from the Upper Palaeolithic were found there, attributed to the Aurignacian culture. The site therefore extends the chronological framework far beyond the medieval fortifications.

Traditional event

“Cesta pohádkovou říší” is a traditional family event held as part of the Hodové celebrations in Pavlovice u Přerova. The documented edition was the 30th event and adds a festive insight into local event life to the historical sights. The festive setting has a different focus from the traces of churches, chateaux and fortifications: here, local event life takes centre stage.
