Dobrčice brings together a small municipality, a revitalized stream area, a distinctive hill and quiet local traditions. Walks along the Dobrčický potok invite you to discover the village and its landscape, while Kamenec offers expansive views of the surrounding area. There is also a late Baroque chapel and events that shape the village’s calendar.

Stream Landscape and Paths Around Dobrčice

The revitalized area along the Dobrčický potok is a place where local residents and visitors from further afield can enjoy a walk. As part of the improvements, trees and shrubs were planted and ponds were created. A small spring beside the stream offers a place to refresh yourself. Those who enjoy spending time outdoors will also find numerous field paths connecting with Dobrčice and the valley. Fruit trees line these paths and provide shade in the heat of summer.

Přestavlcký Forest lies on the left bank of the Dobrčický potok and is a defining feature of the municipality’s landscape. The stream area, shaded field paths and forest offer different ways to enjoy your stay: a walk can begin by the water, continue through open fields or take in views of the forest. In October, you can fly kites in the surrounding fields. This is a seasonal idea for an autumn visit, whether or not an organized event is taking place at the time.

Kamenec, Views and the Chapel of the Virgin Mary

Kamenec hill is home to a former military bunker, with a cross nearby. From the cross, views stretch far across the surrounding area, taking in almost the entire western part of the Moštěnka microregion. A path from this cross follows the horizon to a second cross on the Podkřížová path, above the Hanácká Kyselka plant near Horní Moštěnice. If you are interested in landscapes and religious wayside markers, this offers a tangible connection between a viewpoint and a further destination along the route.

The Chapel of the Virgin Mary also adds a distinctive feature to the village: the late Baroque building has a floor plan measuring 5.6 × 4 metres and a prismatic bell tower above the entrance portal. A permanent exhibition of archaeological finds is housed in the municipal office hall. It can be visited during office hours or by telephone appointment; confirm access before your visit.

Local Traditions and Events

The events calendar brings together a range of occasions, but this does not mean there is a year-round programme. Every June, the local fire brigade holds a Children’s Day at the recreational area. A contest featuring homemade boats and rafts takes place at the pond in Dobrčice; it is called neckiáda or Prasečí lodě. The Bear Procession during Masopust is a social event involving the whole village. Before Christmas, a traditional pre-Christmas concert takes place in the municipal office hall.

These traditions differ in their purpose and timing: Children’s Day is aimed at children, while Masopust and the concert reflect the communal nature of village life. The contest at the pond, meanwhile, connects the local waterside landscape with homemade boats and rafts. When planning your trip, it is worth checking the date of a specific event in advance rather than assuming it takes place on a particular schedule or will be open to visitors.

Planning Your Stay and Looking for Accommodation

Dobrčice lies about 7 km southeast of Přerov. The municipality is small, and cars do not pass through it. Bear this in mind when planning your route, and check access before travelling. Basic amenities include a grocery shop, an inn and a municipal library. If you plan to use any of these, check in advance whether it will be available during your visit.

When choosing accommodation, the main consideration is which aspect of the area you want to experience: walks along the Dobrčický potok and field paths, the sweeping view from Kamenec, the architecture of the Chapel of the Virgin Mary, or a stay planned around a local event. Choose Dobrčice based on the places you most want to visit, and check the location of a specific option against your itinerary.
