Bouzov
Bouzov: Castle, Local History and Active Trails
Bouzov combines an important cultural heritage with concrete opportunities for exercise and discovery. The main attraction is Bouzov Castle, which was declared a national cultural monument in 1999. There is also a museum dedicated to the history of the municipality, an orienteering park with permanent control points, and several tourist routes. This allows you to shape your stay around interiors, local history, orienteering, and longer trails.
Castle and Museums in the Town
Bouzov Castle has romantic interiors featuring rich paintings and wood carvings by local folk artists, along with contemporary furnishings. Another distinctive sight is the Trojan Horse at the Galerie v PodhradĂ Bouzov: the wooden structure is 15 m high. Attractions in Bouzov also include the Galerie v PodhradĂ Bouzov and a glass miniature workshop.
The Muzeum Bouzov is located in the courtyard of the Bouzov municipal office. It preserves evidence of the municipality's history and of the crafts practiced by its inhabitants. In the museum, you can view machines and tools used in households, craft workshops, and agriculture. It therefore complements a visit to the castle with a glimpse into everyday work and the local craft tradition.
Orienteering, Nature Trail and the HlĂĄska Tower
Bouzov Orienteering Park has 17 permanent control points. You can choose between a map with a simple course around Bakule Hill and an advanced map with a free-choice order of the control points. The park can also be used for geocaching. The two maps thus represent different forms of orienteering: a set course or the freedom to choose the order.
The ascent to the HlĂĄska Tower is also one of the special experiences available locally. It is offered as a guided tour without commentary. The BouzovâJavoĆĂÄko nature trail was newly created in 2014 and is intended for pedestrians and cyclists.
Hiking and Cycling Around Bouzov
The JesenecâBouzovâBĂlĂĄ Lhota tourist route passes through Bouzov. It is 22.5 km long, moderately difficult, and has an elevation gain of 305 m. Another tourist route, JavoĆĂÄkoâJavoĆĂÄskĂ© jeskynÄâBouzov, is just under 10 km long. For cycling trips, the BouzovâOlomouc cycling route is available. It is almost 42 km long, moderately difficult, suitable for trekking bikes, and has an elevation gain of 271 m.
The PanskĂ© rybnĂky ponds are an additional landscape attraction. They were restored in 2000 and cover an area of 4.5 ha. Depending on your preferred itinerary, you can focus on cultural sights, an orienteering activity, a nature trail, or a longer hiking or cycling tour.
