Hněvotín: Historic Center, Culture and Cycle Path
Hněvotín is a place where you can discover several different facets: a compact historic center, sacred buildings, a cycle path and a versatile sports complex. The combination of townscape, culture and activity makes the town interesting if you do not want to limit your travel plans to just one type of experience. The center and the individual attractions each have their own distinctive character.
Historic Center and the Church of sv. Leonarda
The historic center of Hněvotín is compact and clearly defined. The characteristic Haná row development with agricultural farmsteads gives the townscape a clearly recognizable regional structure. The Church of sv. Leonarda stands in the center. During a public event, visitors were able to view the main nave, the round presbytery and the rich Baroque furnishings. These three areas also make the church interesting for travelers who, when visiting a town, pay attention not only to the exterior appearance but also to the spatial effect and furnishings of sacred architecture.
The Chapel of Panny Marie
Another cultural highlight is the Chapel of Panny Marie in Hněvotín. It is an open Neo-Romanesque pillar gloriette built in 1870, with a statue of the Virgin Mary. Inside there is also an Immaculata statue from 1755. Since 1958, the chapel has been an immovable cultural monument of the Czech Republic. It therefore brings together several clearly distinguishable periods: the Neo-Romanesque origin of the building, the older statue and its present protected-monument status. This offers a specific view of architecture, religious art and regional history during your visit to the town.
Hněvotín–Lutín Cycle Path
Cyclists will also find a clearly described facility in Hněvotín. The 2.035-kilometer-long Hněvotín–Lutín cycle path runs along the busy II/570 road. At the same time, the cycle path enables cyclists to travel more comfortably and safely. More than 90 percent of the Hněvotín–Lutín cycle path lies within the cadastral area of Hněvotín. The stated length helps with day planning because the section can be regarded as a clearly defined connection between the two towns. Its predominantly location within the cadastral area of Hněvotín makes its local connection even clearer.
Hněvotín Sports Complex
The Hněvotín Sports Complex is available for active days. The grounds include, among other facilities, football pitches, three tennis courts, a beach volleyball court, volleyball and nohejbal courts, a floodlit multi-purpose field and a sports track with a tartan surface. This gives different sports and different forms of shared activity their own place. If you are traveling with several interests, you can therefore experience Hněvotín from both a cultural and an active perspective. The historic center, sacred buildings, cycle path and sports complex provide different starting points for planning your day.
