Natural Environment and Character of the Village

In Hlásnice, natural and local history lie close together. The municipality lies at the foot of the Nízký Jeseník mountains, while Sovinecko Nature Park covers almost the entire area of Hlásnice. The first written mention of the village dates from 1371. The local history therefore extends from the first written mention to traces in the medieval and early modern village centre.

The Dančák natural pond lies on elevated ground above Hlásnice at an altitude of approximately 400 m. From there, there are views of the surrounding landscape, particularly southwards into the Morava Valley and towards Olomouc. The area around the pond is used for daily short-term recreation.

The medieval and early modern village centre is an area with documented archaeological finds or a well-founded presumed occurrence of archaeological finds.

Cycling and Hiking

Hlásnice has numerous paths and trails for walks into the surrounding countryside. One specific option for cyclists is the “Do hlubin věků” route: it passes through Hlásnice and includes a circular route via Šternberk, Babice, Mladějovice, Komárov, Řídeč, Mutkov, Chabičov and back to Šternberk. The route runs along paved roads and unpaved forest paths. The varied surfaces are part of the character of the circuit and are relevant when planning an outing.

A blue-marked hiking route also runs along the edge of the cadastral area of Hlásnice in a north-west to south-east direction. It begins at Mladějovice railway station, leads via Řídeč, Vysoká Roudná, Dubová hora and Chabičov, passes Hlásnice via Dolní Žleb and continues to Šternberk. The route connects the immediate surroundings of Hlásnice with several other stops along the hiking trail.

Chapel and Local Events

The walls of the Chapel of St. George bear memorial plaques with the names of victims of the First and Second World Wars. Masses are held there regularly from spring to autumn; the local event tradition also includes the regularly held St. George’s pilgrimage in Hlásnice. The chapel is therefore both a place of remembrance and a venue for regular religious events.

The history of the village also reaches back to a time when the early inhabitants of Hlásnice kept watch above Šternberk and reported approaching strangers.

The Jarní běh Hlásničák spring run and a summer Kubb tournament are held regularly. There is also a children’s playground with equipment for younger and older children, fitness equipment for teenagers and adults, and a multi-purpose sports field whose surface was renewed in 2018.

Transport Connections and Further Destinations

Hlásnice lies mainly along Road II/445 Šternberk–Huzová–Rýmařov, which connects the village with Šternberk.
