Přerov combines an impressive cultural history with paths along the Bečva and special natural destinations. Castle History and Views over Přerov

The originally Gothic castle in Přerov was converted into a Renaissance castle around the turn of the 16th and 17th centuries under Karel starší ze Žerotína. The Comenius Museum has used the castle in Přerov for museum purposes since the beginning of the 1930s. A particular highlight is the observation tower “Vyhlídková věž s vedutami Přerova z let 1593–1940”. It is 43 metres high; 72 steps lead to its steel viewing gallery.

Comenius, the Unity of the Brethren and World Archaeology

At the Memorial to the Unity of the Brethren, an exhibition with texts and drawings of archaeological finds is open to the public. The original alley at the Memorial to the Unity of the Brethren also allows visitors to walk along the places where Jan Amos Comenius and Jan Blahoslav once walked. The historical perspective reaches even further back: since the second half of the 19th century, Předmostí u Přerova has become part of the history of world archaeology through extensive finds of remains of Paleolithic humans and the so-called mammoth fauna.

Michalov and Nature along the Bečva

Michalov Park offers a change from culture to nature; it has been protected as a cultural monument in Přerov since 1992. The park has three children’s playgrounds, a specific detail for families who want to plan space for younger children during an excursion. The ORNIS Ornithological Station is located on the right bank of the Bečva near Michalov Park and the Žebračka National Nature Reserve. Thus, the surroundings of Přerov include both a protected park and a site with an ornithological connection as part of the documented local landscape.

Cycling on the Bečva Cycle Path

Cyclists and pedestrians will find the Bečva Cycle Path to be a clearly described route through the region. The 26-kilometre section runs from Hranice via Lipník nad Bečvou to Přerov. The regional, low-difficulty section along the Bečva is intended for cyclists and pedestrians; inline skating is possible if the path surface allows it. The journey to the route can also be coordinated accordingly: the Valašské Meziříčí–Velké Karlovice, Valašské Meziříčí–Rožnov pod Radhoštěm and Valašské Meziříčí–Přerov sections are easily accessible by train. Bicycles can be taken as accompanied baggage or stored during transport.
