Křenovice: Church, Chapels and Nature

The dominant landmark of Křenovice is the Church of St. John of Nepomuk, located beside the broad and elongated village green. It was built in 1887–1888 in the Neo-Gothic style on the site of an original chapel. Its furnishings are also Neo-Gothic and date from the time of its construction. The church therefore forms a cohesive historical ensemble in which the construction period, style and interior furnishings belong together.

The Křenovice cemetery also contains the Vožď family crypt, designed as a chapel in the modern style of the 19th century. Hradisko u Křenovic offers another way to explore the past. The site is one of the most important archaeological sites in the Přerov District and adds an archaeological dimension to the history of the area’s religious architecture.

Chapels and Religious Sites

The Chapel of St. Anne stands on Koráb. It was built in 1832 in gratitude for the end of a cholera epidemic. There is a spring by the chapel; the water from this spring is not drinkable. In the countryside of the municipality of Křenovice near Kojetín, there is also the small devotional site Chapel of Our Lady, Queen of Peace. It is connected with the message conveyed in Medjugorje and is accessible around the clock.

If you would like to include a regular religious event in your plans, a regular prayer of the Marian Večeřadlo takes place every first Saturday of the month at 4 p.m. in the Church of St. John of Nepomuk in Křenovice near Kojetín. Křenovské louky is a registered significant landscape element of the ecological ÚSES network. The nature biocentre by the Chapel of St. Anne includes two springs with spring water.
