Discover Bělkovice-Lašťany

Bělkovice-Lašťany combines small cultural monuments, traditional customs and diverse opportunities for an active day. In Lašťany, two sites commemorate Jan Žižka: The statue of Jan Žižka was renovated in 2017, while the monument to Jan Žižka of Trocnov was ceremonially unveiled at the pond on 29 June 1924. Together with the chapels, they create a village character that is best appreciated through individual exploration away from major attractions.

Chapels and Local History

Several chapels preserve concrete traces of regional history. The Chapel of Our Lady of Częstochowa on the road to Dolany dates from 1710 and was completely reconstructed in 2017. The Chapel of Our Lady of Lourdes dates from 1820. Above its entrance is a 30 cm-high porcelain figure of the Virgin Mary – a small, unusual detail that could easily be overlooked during a visit. The Chapel of St Florian by the pond was built in 1802. A small bell tower with a bell stands on its roof.

Water, Sport and Exercise

For a varied day, Koupaliště Bělkovice-Lašťany offers pools of different sizes: The children's pool measures 19.5 m × 7.5 m, while the large swimming pool measures 50 m × 20 m. There are also two artificial-turf courts for small-sided football, nohejbal and tennis. A reservation system for small-sided football is available for the artificial-turf court in Bělkovice-Lašťany. Behind the sports ground is a fitness trail with nine exercise stations.

Another sporting option is DG Bělkovice. Disc golf can be played there free of charge; the facility has six disc golf holes and is rated as “easy” in difficulty. This makes it possible to combine different forms of activity in the same place without limiting the choice to a single sport.

Cycle Path and Surroundings

In 2019, the dedicated road and cycle path from Bělkovice-Lašťany to Dolany were completed. The new cycle path to Dolany allows tourists to travel without conflict with public traffic. The Bělkovické údolí is also located nearby and is considered a recreational area with beautiful nature. Thus, alongside the chapels and monuments, a peaceful landscape and a connection to Dolany are also part of the character of the village.

Customs and Regional Tradition

The old Ježíškovy matičky procession has been passed down in Bělkovice-Lašťany since around 1848. It welcomed spring and celebrated the Resurrection of Christ. The custom takes place separately in the Lašťany and Bělkovice districts. Since 2018, it has been listed under the name “Velikonoční slavnosti Matiček a Ježíškových Matiček na Hané Olomoucký kraj” in the List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of the Traditional Folk Culture of the Czech Republic.

Regional food is also among the documented local impressions: Regional food and local confectionery products were offered at the autumn markets held on 18 September 2022 at the swimming pool in Lašťany. Bělkovice-Lašťany is therefore suitable for a trip where you would like to combine cultural monuments, water, exercise, customs and landscape.
