Grymov Between Village History and Active Routes

Grymov combines a vivid local history with cycle paths, field tracks and regional running events. In the garden by the community barn stands the Hranečník dating from 1768. It is registered as an immovable cultural monument in the Central Register of Immovable Cultural Monuments. On the village square stands the Chapel of Saint John the Baptist, which was built between 1860 and 1863 in place of a bell tower. The chapel is a cultural monument; a statue of Marie Hostýnská stands in front of it.

The origins of the village are also part of Grymov's history: the village was founded in 1787 by dividing up the former estate of Radslavice, creating 24 farmsteads. The crossing near Vrbovec is also part of the surrounding area. The flood of 1880 destroyed the old crossing; a bridge was built in 1881. The 24 farmsteads were established in 1787, and the bridge followed the destruction of the crossing in 1881.

Cycling and Routes Along the Bečva

For cycling trips, the cycle path near Grymov is connected to Cycle Route No. 6035 between Nad Hubertem, Lhota, Pavlovice u. Přerova and Radslavice. It also forms part of the Cyklostezka Bečva cycle path and the Kraków–Moravia–Vienna Greenway. This connection links a local route with long-distance routes, without confusing the different route references with one another. The cycle path is therefore connected to Cycle Route No. 6035, the Cyklostezka Bečva and the Kraków–Moravia–Vienna Greenway.

The cycle path along the Bečva is suitable for walking, running, cycling and inline skating. The field tracks in Grymov are lined with rows of trees and well-maintained greenery. The Bečva cycle path combines several types of activity along the same route. The field tracks, by contrast, are characterized by rows of trees and well-maintained greenery.

Running Events with Different Routes

Grymovská desítka is a spring run on asphalt field tracks. The route was extended to 10 kilometres in 2011; children also take part in the event on shorter routes. The clearly defined distance and asphalt surface distinguish this format from Grymovská podkova. Those wishing to compare different types of running will therefore find here a road or field-track run with shorter children's routes and a cross-country format with changing surfaces. The children's options are structured differently: Grymovská desítka offers shorter routes, while Grymovská podkova has a short circuit.

Grymovská podkova is an 8.2-kilometre cross-country run. The route leads mainly over unpaved surfaces, along the edge of a field, across a racetrack area and over field tracks. Participants can also run a 4-kilometre route there; children have a short circuit. The route lengths and surfaces therefore create different challenges within the same event, without equating the shorter options with the 8.2-kilometre cross-country run.

Traditions, Sport and Getting There

Easter customs preserved in Grymov include Velikonoční klepání and Pomlázka, with Pomlázka also known as Tatarování. The sports area by the Bečva has a tennis court. The tennis court adds another sporting option to the routes. In addition, bus connections to Grymov are provided as part of the public transport network of the Olomoucký kraj; on working days, services run approximately every two hours.
