Discover Tučín: Culture, Trails and the Lookout Tower
Tučín combines an engaging local history with trails for active discovery. A stone statue of a saint, a house dedicated to rural traditions, a lookout tower and a family-friendly educational trail give the town a variety of facets. There is also a cycling route of approximately 39 kilometres, a varied DiscGolfPark and the story of a warm mineral spring.
Culture and Rural Traditions
The stone statue of Saint Isidore stands on a tiered pedestal. An inscription indicates that it was erected in 1749. The life-size figure wears contemporary clothing, has its hands folded in prayer and is accompanied by an angel holding the saint’s hat. The visible details in particular make this religious monument an attraction worth taking a closer look at.
The House of Traditions and Crafts, no. 17, is a living exhibition of rural traditions and crafts, especially agriculture. It was opened to the public in 2018. Visits are possible during events held there or for groups by prior arrangement. This makes the house one of the attractions where the timing of the visit plays an important role.
Hiking, Cycling and Views
The circular educational trail S tučňákem za poznáním leads for approximately 3.5 kilometres through Tučín and its immediate surroundings. It is considered easy, is suitable for families with children and features numerous play elements. The Větrný mlýn viewpoint is stop 3 on the S tučňákem za poznáním trail and is freely accessible.
The Tučín – Římská věž lookout tower is open to visitors on the days and at the times specified by the operator. No more than ten people may enter at the same time. All motor vehicles are prohibited from using the road to the tower. Parking is available at the outdoor swimming pool in Tučín; a smaller car park for twelve cars is located at the water facility.
The approximately 39-kilometre Záhorská cycling route passes through Tučín, follows paved surfaces and is particularly suitable for trekking bikes. The different route lengths make rough planning easier and help distinguish a short local loop from a longer cycling tour. For a different kind of activity, there is the Tučín DiscGolfPark: The course includes various types of holes, including tunnel shots, expansive fairways and some changes in elevation.
Local History and Events
At the Tučínský špekáček music festival, the 21st edition in 2024 followed the 20th edition in 2023. The history of the local outdoor swimming pool is unusual as well: A mineral spring with a temperature of 21°C, discovered during drilling in 1935, was used in 1940 to build the outdoor swimming pool in the pit of a quarried stone quarry.
