The Trnávka stream, which flows through the Kateřinice valley, is also part of the area’s distinctive landscape.

The Kateřinice reservoir now serves as a recreational zone with opportunities for fishing and swimming, as well as a natural swimming area. It also serves recreational sports and fishing throughout the year. This creates a different focus for planning your day than a simple walk on Kamenný: those who want to combine water, exercise or fishing will find another documented part of the area at the reservoir.

Castle History with Preserved Details

The historical development of Kateřinice can be seen in several specific details. Shortly after 1698, the original water fortress was converted into a Baroque château under Maxmilián and Václav Harasovský. Late Gothic stone vaulted cellars and an old stone well have survived from the original water fortress. The well has a diameter of 1.2 metres and is 7 metres deep. The former château now serves as a family home and is privately owned. This present-day use and private ownership are just as much part of understanding the site as its earlier architectural history.

Cycle Routes, Circular Trails and Local Traditions

Kateřinice also offers several routes for cycling travellers. Cycle Route No. 6134 runs through Kateřinice, leads from Příbor to Stará Ves nad Ondřejnicí and is 12 km long. The Kraków–Moravia–Vienna Greenways route also runs through Kateřinice and forms part of the Castles and Nature of the Poodří circular trail. The Kravařsko circular trail also passes through Kateřinice. Those looking for accommodation can therefore organise their stay according to their preferred daily rhythm: the focus may be on short routes by the water, a walk up Kamenný, a specific cycling tour, or a combination of landscape and history.

A local tradition is Krmáš (Posvícení). It is regularly celebrated on the first Sunday after All Souls’ Day and is usually accompanied by a dance event. The Trail Run is one of the popular and frequently attended events in Kateřinice.
