Jeseník nad Odrou: Culture and Trails through the Oder Floodplains

Jeseník nad Odrou combines a remarkable village history with trails through the Oder floodplain landscape. Cultural Monuments with Unusual Details

In the village center, the Chapel of Saint Anne stands next to House No. 8. Its elongated shape, the slightly narrowed and recessed semicircular end, the volute gable and the small roof turret with a lantern give the building a clearly recognizable appearance. The Church of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary is also located in the village. Its nave was added in 1752 at the expense of František Rheinold z Andlernu; at the same time, the church stands on the site of a wooden church that burned down in 1710.

On the village square, the statue of Saint John of Nepomuk is considered one of the earliest depictions of its kind in northern Moravia. It was erected before his canonization. A stone cross dating from 1822 near the church also commemorates local origins and the continuation of the Baroque sculptural tradition into the 19th century. The historic ensemble also includes the château and the farmstead, which were built by Rudolf svobodný pán z Wittenu. Visitors can currently enjoy the historic atmosphere at the château and dine in the restaurant and outdoor area of the château park.

The Stezka krajinou povodní leads through the Oder floodplain landscape between Jeseník, Bernartice and Suchdol nad Odrou. As a meditative spiritual educational trail, it follows motifs from the Canticle of the Sun by Saint Francis of Assisi and leads through Blahutovice and the surrounding area.
