Neu Rohlau – Discover Churches, Porcelain and Nature
Neu Rohlau (Nová Role) brings together church history, porcelain and landscapes within a compact thematic area. During your stay, you can therefore choose between cultural and historical discoveries, insights into production, water and traditional events. Hiking and cycling routes are also part of the local landscape and continue as far as Saxony in Germany.
Culture between Church and Porcelain
The original chapel of the Church of St. Michael in Nová Role was built between 1240 and 1255. A remnant of the original masonry has been preserved in the rear part of the presbytery. The church is a valuable ecclesiastical monument of the Karlovy Vary Region and was classified in Category II of historic monuments in the Romanesque-Gothic style. It therefore provides a tangible point of reference for anyone who wants to discover not only landscapes while travelling, but also the older history of a place.
The Thun Visitor Centre in Nová Role offers a different perspective. The visitor tour leads through the administration building and showroom and continues into the production facility. The tour also includes a film presentation about porcelain production. At the Porcelain School, visitors can decorate their own cup by hand. The combination of the tour, film and hands-on activity makes the porcelain tradition accessible as an informative experience without reducing it to a mere exhibition. The programme combines insights into the buildings, showroom and production facility with a filmed presentation. The hands-on station adds a distinct element, as visitors do not just watch but design a cup themselves.
Water, Routes and Regional Views
With an area of 22 hectares, Novorolský rybnÃk is the largest pond in the local non-trout fishing district. The traditional Michalská pouÅ¥ takes place on the beach at Novorolský rybnÃk in Nová Role. Hiking and cycling routes also pass through Nová Role and continue as far as Saxony in Germany. When choosing your accommodation, the focus you want is therefore particularly helpful: church and porcelain, water and tradition, or active days on the routes. Those who focus on outdoor activity will find a different orientation in the routes than visitors staying around the pond and beach.
The wider regional surroundings of Nová Role include several mountains: Tisovský vrch, PleÅ¡ivec, Perninský vrch and DÞe. Kloster Schlackenwerth is located there as a monastery, and Zwota, Kirche as a church. These different destinations broaden the view beyond the town centre without requiring you to commit to just one type of stay. The regional selection thus ranges from mountains to religious architecture and complements the town centre with diverse cultural and landscape points of interest.
