Natural landscape between the Ohře and protected slopes

Wickwitz combines impressive landscapes with tranquil nature experiences and traces of history. Vojkovice lies in the deep valley of the Ohře, through which the river flows. The Dubohabřina area in Vojkovice protects preserved Hercynian oak-hornbeam forests and dry grasslands on steep slopes above the Ohře. The Špičák u Vojkovic protected area has a different character: beech and scree forests, dry grasslands on steep slopes, and the characteristic flora and fauna of deciduous forests are protected there. The protected area also includes land in the cadastral district of Vojkovice nad Ohří.

The Vojkovická skála is particularly striking, a morphologically distinctive granulite outcrop of geotourist value. Particularly protected species found here include the barred warbler (Sylvia nisoria) and the sand lizard (Lacerta agilis). Special permission is required to enter Vojkovická skála because of the military area, the quarry and private property. This site is therefore one of the nature-related attractions that you should plan for with particular attention to the applicable access conditions.

Further independent discoveries complement the landscape. The Vojkovická lípa is a protected small-leaved lime (Tilia cordata Mill.) and is around 250 years old. The Studánka pod lípou spring has provided refreshing water for decades and was renovated in 2009. Pískovna offers opportunities for fishing, a peaceful place to relax and the chance to observe plant and animal life in its natural surroundings.

Archaeological traces and regional orientation

History is also present in Vojkovice. The hillfort complex is classified as an important archaeological site as well as an archaeological site, fortification and hilltop settlement. It lies south of the town between the railway line and the Ohře, above the confluence of the Bystřice and the Ohře, at 370 m above sea level. The oldest evidence of the already existing municipality of Vikvice dates from 1088.

Vojkovice and Jakubov belong to the Doupovské hory bird protection area. Wickwitz on the long-distance cycle route

For cycle tourists, Vojkovice (Wikwitz) is located on the Radošov–Stráž–Lužný section of National Long-Distance Cycle Route 6, at kilometre 4.6. The Cheb–Chomutov railway line passes through Vojkovice. For waterway hikers, Vodácký kemp Vojkovice, a campsite for waterway hikers, is located in Vojkovice nad Ohří.
