Zaloňov

Zaloňov combines cycling, historic paths, and small cultural discoveries into a destination with several distinct facets. The KČT cycling route 4116 runs through Chotěborky, Velichovky, Litíč, Zaloňov, and Kuks. Above Zaloňov, a cross serves as another prominent landmark: the historic path leading to it was restored in 2022 and is intended for pedestrians and cyclists. The historic Via lucis – Cesta světla also leads from this cross to Kuks Hospital.

Cycling and Historic Paths

Those exploring Zaloňov by bicycle will find a connection through several towns and villages on the KČT cycling route 4116. Chotěborky, Velichovky, Litíč, Zaloňov, and Kuks are part of its route. Zaloňov follows Litíč and precedes Kuks along the route. The route should not be equated with the historic path to the cross: the cycling route runs through several places, while the historic path to the cross leads above Zaloňov.

The historic path to the cross above Zaloňov, restored in 2022, is expressly intended for pedestrians and cyclists. Its historical context distinguishes it from an ordinary local connection. The Via lucis – Cesta světla begins at the cross above Zaloňov and leads to Kuks Hospital. Both connections include Kuks, but they have different routes and starting points: the cycling route runs through several places, while the Via lucis starts at the cross.

Golf as a Separate Excursion Focus

The Nová Amerika Golf Resort offers a different form of leisure activity. The golf course is located on converted farmland and opened in June 2002. The resort includes three 9-hole loops named Woodland, Maple Hills, and Bohemian Garden. This specific layout makes the golf area an independent focus alongside cycling and the historic paths.

Church, Trees, and a Documented Local Event

Smaller details are also a focus in the village. Historic mulberry trees grow by the church in Zaloňov. The filial Church of St. Peter and Paul was formerly a parish church. Both details give the village landscape a historical dimension that is not limited to major buildings or long excursions.

A specific example of local events is the traditional burning of the witches at Zaloňov’s Sand Pond on April 30, 2016. Members of the SDH and the fishing club organized competitions, a witch hunt, and refreshments for children. There was also a lantern procession and a large fire. This event belongs to a past date and describes a documented event, not automatically a current programme.
