Vernéřovice: Hiking, Village Culture and the Broumovsko Region

Vernéřovice between Long-Distance Trail and Village Culture

Vernéřovice brings together several distinctly different discoveries. The Stezka Českem long-distance trail passes through the village, which lies at the 64th kilometre of the fifth section of the northern route. At the same time, a Baroque church, preserved rural architecture, hiking trails and insights into agriculture shape the character of the area. This makes it possible to compare active, culture-oriented and nature-focused holiday days when choosing where to stay. Anyone wishing to combine a long-distance hike with village history and landscapes will find several themes here that complement one another meaningfully within a single stay.

Baroque Church and Preserved Architectural Heritage

The parish Church of St. Michael the Archangel was built in 1719–1720; its interior furnishings were completed in 1722. The church stands on a hill amid the village cemetery of Vernéřovice. Soulkostel provides another cultural highlight: the building has been restored and preserves original elements. A route passing through Vernéřovice also leads past preserved farmsteads and log houses representing the region’s folk architecture. In the village, you therefore encounter not only individual buildings but also traces of the region’s rural traditions. The church, Soulkostel and the rural houses represent different historical layers: sacred architecture, restored building fabric and regional folk architecture.

Hiking Trails with Views of the Broumovské stěny

At the signpost by Vernéřovice Primary School, there is a sign marked “Stezka Českem”. A red-marked hiking trail leads to the upper end of the village and continues across fields to the Vernéřovická studánka spring. The route to this spring is 10 km long and has a low difficulty level. From the meadows above Vernéřovice, you can see the Broumovské stěny and the distinctive Honský Špičák peak. The combination of a signposted long-distance trail, a 10 km hike and open landscape views thus offers various ways to explore the surroundings. The clearly stated distance and low difficulty level make it easier to plan an independent trip to the spring, while the red-marked trail describes the route to the meadows above the village.

Ekofarma Bošina in the Broumovsko Protected Landscape Area

Ekofarma Bošina is located in the municipality of Vernéřovice within the Broumovsko Protected Landscape Area and is open to the public. Organised excursions for adults provide insights into farm operations, meat processing and animal husbandry. At the Ekofarma Bošina farm shop, meat and other agricultural products are available directly on site, even without prior ordering. The farm thus complements hiking and cultural experiences with a concrete insight into regional agriculture and its products. A visit combines insights into production and animal husbandry with regional products, while also placing the Broumovsko landscape within an agricultural context.

Cycling and Choosing Where to Stay

The municipality can also be explored by bicycle: the “Za poklady Broumovska II” cycle route runs through the entire municipality of Vernéřovice.
