Zájezd: Zoo Park, Nature Trail and Animal Experiences

Zájezd combines animal encounters with nature experiences and hands-on activities. Zájezd Zoo Park consists of two visitor areas. There is also an educational trail with interactive stations, as well as activities where, in supervised programs, you can encounter animals not only by observing them but also through direct interaction. As a result, your visit can focus on different aspects: exotic species, a trip with children or learning about nature along the “Naučná stezka.”

Chameleons, rare species and direct encounters

In the “Terária” area, you can view the world’s largest public collection of chameleons up close. Rare iguanas, tortoises, songbirds, spiders and stick insects are also on display there. An aviary that visitors can enter is home to curious squirrels and golden pheasants. The animal world therefore ranges from reptiles and birds to smaller and unusual species.

In the children’s “Ušákov” area, children can play with the largest rabbits in the world. During the “Rodinné krmení zvířat” program, visitors feed their preferred animal accompanied by an animal keeper. “Krmení pro odvážné” offers an even more direct encounter: visitors feed chameleons, iguanas or snakes with insect food. Observation, play and supervised feeding thus create different forms of animal experience.

Educational Trail with Nature Knowledge and Play Areas

Along the “Naučná stezka,” you can learn about the wildlife in the area surrounding the zoo. You will learn to identify animal tracks and the calls of Czech bird species. The educational trail runs with more than 10 stations and interactive elements around the camel and into the lower area with an amphitheater and children’s playground.

The stations give the walk its own focus on nature. Alongside the animals in the zoo park, observation, recognition and playful learning are central elements. By connecting the trail with the amphitheater and children’s playground, the route also includes different places to stop, so the nature section is not limited to a single information station.

Getting to Zájezd Zoo Park

The main car park is located outside the municipality of Zájezd in the direction of Libochovičky. From there, a 500 m walk through nature leads via the educational trail or the butterfly garden. This route connects arrival directly with a first nature experience and makes access part of the visit.

By bus, Zájezd Zoo Park can be reached on routes 350/622 from Praha, Dejvická to Kladno via Okoř, as well as on route 342 from Praha, Veleslavín to Slaný. Route 342 stops at the Bouchalka bus stop. This provides different starting points for the journey, as well as a connection with the walk from the car park.
