Stránka – Baroque Castle and Cycling Routes in Czechia

Castle and historical traces

Stránka Castle is a two-winged Baroque castle. A room on the first floor formerly served as the Chapel of Saint John and housed a Baroque altar dedicated to Our Lady of Good Counsel. More recent history includes the fact that the municipality of Stránka bought the castle in 2016 and renovated six apartments in the castle building.

Smaller landmarks also add to the cultural impression of the village. The statue of Saint John of Nepomuk is badly damaged, particularly in its lower section, and is protected by a railing against further deterioration. The memorial to the fallen stands in Stránka village square and is accessible. Cycling routes with specific landmarks

Cycling route 0009 runs through Stránka and connects Mělnické Vtelno, Kadlín, Stránka, Mšeno and Vojtěchov. The statue of Saint Wenceslas stands immediately beside cycling route 0008. The memorial to the fallen stands immediately beside cycling routes 0008 and 0009. The wooden structure above Stránka, probably used as a bell tower, is located about 50 meters from cycling routes 0008 and 0009. The spatial arrangement connects the regional route layout with the local history without combining the two cycling routes into a single circular route. For a cycling tour focused on culture, the points provide different reference points: one route connects several places, the other leads directly to a statue, while the memorial and bell tower are located on or near the two connections.

Events in Stránka

The Stránecký běh is a recurring local running event in Stránka. The 12th edition in 2022 and the 13th edition in 2023 are documented. The Stránecký běh 2023 used a 5,400-meter running route. Following the Stránecký běh 2022, the Stránecký pochod took place as a walking activity; a 5,400-meter walking route was used for this event.
