Another distinctive building is the Evangelical Church in Mělnické Vtelno. The late Baroque single-nave building dates from 1786; the historicist tower was added in 1865. The church is protected as a monument. The protected area also includes the staircase, the gate and the enclosed grounds. Inside are a stucco-decorated pulpit and an equally ornamented stone baptismal font. On the northern side of Vtelno village square also stands a linden tree planted in October 1919. It approximately marks the site of the former Vtelno fortress and connects the present-day appearance of the village with an earlier chapter in the settlement’s history.
