Mohelnice Nad Jizerou is a destination for you if you would like to combine historical details, water and activity in a single stay. Historical traces along the Mohelka and in the village

The Church of the Assumption is a Romanesque tribune church dating from the third quarter of the 12th century.

Mill No. 3 is a log building in the village centre on the right bank of the Mohelka. Its water-powered installation was installed in 1914. This brings the building style, riverside location and history of technology together in a single feature. The combination of the log building, riverside location and the installation installed in 1914 forms a closely defined historical context.

At the former Mill No. 42, there is a clearly visible mill race that is partly cut into the rock. The year 1901 is carved into a rock. The course, partly cut into the rock, stands out as a visible detail from the carved year. The village scene is complemented by a statue of Christ on an elaborately decorated pedestal dating from 1884, as well as by the folk-architecture houses numbered 5, 6, 8 and 11, which have preserved their original character to this day.

The bridges also mark different eras: a stone bridge over the Mohelka was built in 1926; the concrete arch bridge over the Jizera near Mohelnice was built in 1930–1931. Their dates make the chronological gap between the structures immediately visible.

Hiking, Káčov and experiences on the water

For an active day, the 14 km hike “To the summit of Káčov via Zásadka and Mohelnice” is a good option; it takes approximately 4 hours and includes 190 metres of elevation gain. It is considered a moderately difficult route with a steep ascent. The combination of distance, approximate duration and elevation gain helps you compare this option with your own daily rhythm. The approximate duration and elevation difference provide the route with a clear time and physical framework.

In the surrounding region lies the distinctive, forested volcanic hill of Káčov. It is 350 metres high and offers views of Ještěd, Kozákov, Mužský and the Giant Mountains. The views therefore extend from prominent individual mountains to the Giant Mountains. The hill creates a distinct landscape accent alongside the village’s historical features.

The tourist route “Via Zásadka to Mohelnice” ends in the municipality of Mohelnice nad Jizerou. On the Jizera, a river trip can end at the bridge in Mohelnice nad Jizerou. The route details help clearly distinguish the two experiences: the hike is defined by its length, duration and elevation gain, while the river trip is defined by its endpoint at the bridge.
