Ledce – Theater Tradition and Village History
Accommodation in Ledce
Ledce combines annual amateur theater performances with a rich village history and routes for walkers and cyclists. The chapel, open-air theater and memorial sit alongside historical stories and named waterways. When planning your trip, you can decide whether to focus on culture, local history or outdoor activities.
Theater and Remembrance in Village Life
Ledce’s amateur theater group stages performances every year for the surrounding area. Shows take place either in the open-air theater or in a hall with a stage, full theater equipment and a curtain. Ledce thus offers both an outdoor stage and a fully equipped hall as performance venues.
Residents built the open-air theater in 1955 on the village square near the chapel; it is still in use today. If you want to see a particular performance, check the date before your trip. On July 19, 2003, a new bell was consecrated and installed in the chapel at the open-air theater.
A memorial service for the victims of the world wars is held every year during the Národní pouť in Ledce. The memorial in the center also commemorates the victims of the First and Second World Wars. It bears the names of 34 local residents who fell in the wars.
Chapel and Historical Traces
The Chapel of Our Lady of Mount Carmel (Panny Marie Karmelské), built in 1873, stands on the village square. The historic center of Ledce is considered an area of urban planning significance. A timber-framed farmhouse on plot 35 is also among the village’s architecturally valuable buildings.
A fortress still stood in Ledce at the beginning of the 17th century; it was destroyed during the Thirty Years’ War. The outlying settlement of Kačírna, also known as Kačerovna, which belongs to Ledce, has its own history: first, a hut for a duck keeper stood there, and many ducks were kept in a pond. A forester’s lodge was later built on the same site.
Walking and Cycling Routes
KČT hiking route No. 661, marked in green, runs from Ledce to Domousnice. Marked KČT route No. 2264 connects Ledce with Loučeň. The two routes have different destinations; check the current markings and trail conditions before setting out.
The Dobrovice–Ledce cycle route was officially opened on a Friday, March 21. Its approximately six-kilometer route also passes through Úherce, Semčice, Prodašice and Kobylnice. The named places along the cycle route distinguish it from the two hiking routes and their respective destinations.
Waterways and a Memorial Tree
The waterways Vlkava, Ledecký potok and Svatojířský potok are among the natural assets of the municipality. Ptácký rybník and Bumbálek are bodies of water within the municipality. These names add specific landscape features of Ledce to its cultural highlights.
A single European beech (Fagus sylvatica) in Ledce is also designated as a memorial tree. Together with the named waterways and bodies of water, it provides a distinct connection with nature, alongside the historic buildings and the memorial in the village center.
Choose Accommodation Based on Your Travel Plans
If you’re looking for a hotel for a trip to Ledce, first decide whether theater and village history or trails and scenery should shape your stay.
