Plužná
Plužná combines a distinctive historic village landscape with routes for hikers and cyclists. The village is located about 10 km northwest of Mladá Boleslav and can be reached from there via Čistá, as well as from Bělá pod Bezdězem and Katusice. Near deep forests, it provides a diverse setting for a trip where village history, outdoor activity, and experiences in nature come together.
A Historic Village with Its Own Structure
Plužná was first mentioned in written records in 1337. The historic part of the village is particularly vivid: the farmsteads are arranged perpendicular to an elongated central village axis. The historic village landscape also preserves traces of the original strip-field system, known as Plužiny. This refers to a traditional division of agricultural land into long strips. Together with the characteristic family farmsteads, this villagescape recalls that Plužná was a prosperous agricultural community in the 19th and early 20th centuries.
Hiking and Cycling Around Plužná
For hiking, south of Plužná you will find a connection between a blue-marked and a red-marked hiking trail. North of the village, a marked hiking trail first connects with a yellow-marked and later with a green-marked hiking trail.
There are also specific points of interest for cycling tours. Cycle Route 0060, the Bělský okruh, passes through Plužná at kilometer 12.5. In addition, the C10 cycle loop from Bělá pod Bezdězem to Mnichovo Hradiště passes through the village and then continues via Cycle Route 0060 in the direction of Valdštejnsko. The recurring cycling event Pluženská Kolová underscores this connection with cycling; in 2026, its 26th edition took place.
Nature, the Water Reservoir, and Local Traditions
A reconstructed biotope by the water reservoir in Plužná serves recreation, experiencing nature, and communal gatherings. It complements the nearby deep forests with another described natural area in the village. Those who want not only to be on the move during their trip but also to experience local traditions can attend Pluženská Noc, a traditional summer open-air event. Poslední leč is one of the two major annual events organized by the Myslivecký spolek Plužná association.
Pálení čarodějnic was also scheduled to take place at the local sports field on Thursday, April 30, 2026. This traditional event was planned to include competitions for children, a lantern procession, and the communal lighting of a witch effigy. Since this date has already passed in 2026, it describes a specific local tradition and not a current event commitment.
Putting Plužná into Perspective as a Travel Destination
Under the auspices of the municipality, regular yoga and Pilates sessions had been announced for Sundays and Wednesdays at 6:00 p.m. in the municipal office hall.
