Malé Kysice – Hillfort, Mill History and Trails

Malé Kysice between a Hillfort and Mill History

Malé Kysice offers you a journey through archaeological traces, an evolved landscape and regional culture. Of particular interest is the hillfort on Vysoký vrch: The archaeological hillfort was discovered in 1961 and is dated to the period from the 5th to the 3rd century BC. The hillfort includes a stone defensive wall, of which only a small portion remains today.

The archaeological hillfort on Vysoký vrch is situated on a rocky promontory covering approximately 1.5 hectares. The plateau is protected in the northwest by rock escarpments. This makes the site interesting not only because of its dating, but also because of the connection between the terrain and the past.

Historical Discoveries in Malé Kyšice

Proškův mlýn is located in the area of Malé Kyšice. The first written mention dates from 1432, and the enclosing walls from that period have been preserved. Inside, there is a black kitchen with a smoke chamber dating from the 18th century, as well as mill machinery documenting developments from the 17th to the early 20th century. Proškův mlýn is open to the public several times a year.

Another local tradition is associated with Kaplička Panny Marie Žlábecké. According to the tradition, the couple Pěnkava had the chapel built in 1649 at a spring with healing water after their blind daughter Sabina recovered.
