Malé Přítočno: Village history by the Dolanský potok
Accommodation in Malé Přítočno
Getting to and finding your way around the village
Malé Přítočno can be explored through both its arrival points and its history. PID bus line 307 serves the village on the route between Praha, Zličín, and Kladno, Autobusové nádraží. As the route may change, check the current timetable before travelling. The Malé Přítočno stop is in the northern part of the village, by the inn; Malé Přítočno, U Hrnčírny, is in the south, next to the children’s playground. Unhošť railway stop is also in the southern part of the village. The bus stops therefore mark different parts of the village, while the railway stop provides an additional point of reference in the south. For families, the playground next to U Hrnčírny is a useful landmark. When looking for accommodation, you can consider which part of the village and which stop best suit your planned journey.
Historic landscape and village history
The historic settlement developed on the southern bank of the Dolanský potok. Its surroundings were covered by floodplain forests and included several large and small ponds. This offers two ways to understand the area: the south bank indicates the location of the settlement itself, while the floodplain forests and ponds describe its historic surroundings. Together, the stream, forest, and bodies of water give the former landscape a distinct character. For visitors interested in local and landscape history, this perspective complements practical travel information with the development of the settlement.
The first documented owner of the village was Jan IV. z Dražic, Bishop of Prague. The Thirty Years’ War (1618–1648) completely depopulated the village. These two facts shed light on different aspects of its history: the owner represents its manorial history, while the war was a turning point that affected the village as a whole. You can thus encounter both a history of ownership associated with a named individual and a profound historical rupture.
After 1868, educational associations in the form of reading circles, workers’ mutual aid societies, sports clubs, and theatre groups were founded in Malé Přítočno. Reading circles point to shared reading and learning; workers’ mutual aid societies indicate organised support, while sports and theatre represent other forms of community activity. Malé Přítočno’s proximity to the old Eger Road historically linked the village to troop movements from the border towards Prague. Local associations and troop movements beyond the village therefore represent different scales of activity.
The surrounding area also offers specific landmarks. A monument to an air accident stands between the municipalities of Dolany and Malé Přítočno. The Malé Přítočno cemetery is on the D6 motorway between Malé Přítočno and Pletený Újezd. The monument is therefore located between two municipalities; the cemetery is identified by its position on the D6 and between the two municipalities. Both extend your bearings beyond the village’s stops.
When choosing where to stay, you may also want to consider different historical themes: the landscape along the Dolanský potok, associational life after 1868, or the connection to the old Eger Road.
