Chorušice: Between Polabí, the Dolnojizerská Tableland and Kokořínsko

Chorušice lies 18 kilometres northeast of Mělník. The village is situated at the transition between the Polabí lowlands, the rolling landscape of the Dolnojizerská Tableland and the Kokořínsko region, which develops into more strongly varied terrain. The presbytery, the chancel of the church, contains a miraculous image of Our Lady of Sorrows. The church thus preserves not only a distinctive Baroque appearance but also a central religious detail of the village.

A second stop is the Baroque chapel on the village square. It was built in 1716, and its decoration is connected with that of the deanery church. Our Lady of Sorrows is depicted in the eastern niche facing the church, while the western niche contains Saint John of Nepomuk. The church and chapel can therefore be viewed as related Baroque elements of the villagescape, without having to limit yourself to a single sightseeing point.

Educational Trail Between Nature and Local History

The four-kilometre Chorušická zákoutí educational trail begins in Chorušice at a revitalised water reservoir and leads through a sandstone valley south of the municipality. Ten information panels or play elements present the content in an entertaining way for a broad audience ranging from preschool children to adults. For families, this provides a documented route that appeals to different age groups, while its themes extend beyond simply observing nature.

The educational trail provides information about local nature, sights and partisan activities during the Second World War. The combination of landscape, local features and history makes the trail an opportunity to get to know Chorušice not only through individual buildings but also through its surroundings and past.

Cycling and an Unusual Museum

Cycle route No. 8146, which is 29.9 kilometres long and forms part of the Greenway Jizera, runs through Chorušice and the village district of Velký Újezd. The stated length gives you a specific point of reference if you plan to make cycling a focus of your trip.
