Lázy – Hiking Trails, Views and Wallachian Culture

Lázy combines expansive landscapes with signposted trails and a tangible local Wallachian history. From here, views extend across the Kelečská pahorkatina, the Bečva Valley towards Hranice, the Beskids and the Vsetín Hills. This creates a destination where hiking, cycling and discoveries of cultural history can be combined through specific routes and sights.

Landscape and Nature Around Lázy

The different viewing directions give the landscape its distinctive character: The Bečva Valley leads towards Hranice, while the Beskids and the Vsetín Hills provide further prominent reference points. A special natural feature is the Lípa v Lázech. The large-leaved lime tree Tilia platyphyllos is designated as a solitary natural monument.

Hiking Routes with Different Profiles

A yellow-marked hiking route from Oznice to Pržno passes through Lázy. The route is approximately 13.5 kilometres long and is recommended primarily for hikers.

The Hostýnská magistrála runs from Svatý Hostýn to Lázy. Its main section is of moderate difficulty, more than 19 kilometres long and crosses side routes at seven points. In addition, the Hostýnská magistrála is a groomed and marked cross-country skiing route through the Hostýnské vrchy. At more than 19 kilometres, its main section is longer than the approximately 13.5-kilometre route from Oznice to Pržno.

Cycling and Other Connections

For cycling tours, Route No. 6216 is relevant. It runs from Valašské Meziříčí via Poličná, Branky, Police, Podolí and Lázy back to Valašské Meziříčí. Another connection leads from Valašské Meziříčí via Jarcovská Kula to Lázy and reaches Lázy via the Cyrilometodějská stezka.

The route from Valašské Meziříčí via Lázy and Rajnochovice to the Rozhledna Kelčský Javorník lookout tower also passes through Lázy. In addition, Cycle Route No. 6118 follows the marked Hostýnská magistrála to Lázy. Anyone wishing to explore the area by bicycle will therefore find several specifically named routes rather than merely a collection of general excursion ideas.

Wallachian History in the Village Centre

The typical Wallachian wooden bell tower in the centre of Lázy was built in 1925 and is designated as a protected cultural monument. The bell in the bell tower bears an inscription with the name Volfgang Adam Straub from Olomouc and the year 1848. The tower thus combines a visible architectural form from the 20th century with a bell whose inscription refers to the year 1848.

The local history also includes a manufactory producing stoneware ceramics, which operated in Lázy from 1854 until after 1900. The manufactory used local clay to produce red majolica glazed white on the inside.
