Dolni Becva – Hiking, Pustevny and Regional Cuisine

Dolní Bečva lies in the Moravian-Silesian Beskids below Mount Radhošť. The northern boundary of the cadastral area runs along the ridge of the Radhošť Beskids and also forms the district boundary. As a result, Dolní Bečva brings together mountain scenery, routes towards Radhošť, regional culture and Wallachian specialities.

Hiking, cycling and winter trails

Dolní Bečva is a starting point for hiking trails to Radhošť. Attractions on the mountain visited by tourists include the statue of the pagan god Radegast and a chapel dedicated to Saints Cyril and Methodius. Pustevny is also one of the region’s distinctive destinations and is known for the picturesque wooden buildings designed by the architect Dušan Jurkovič.

In winter, groomed cross-country ski trails run from the Mír chalet via Pustevny to Martinák. For alpine winter sports, the Pod Kaplí ski slope is located on the north-western side of Mount Radhošť in the Průsek area. It is 447 metres long. The Pod Kaplí ski lift has a capacity of 450 people per hour; its operation depends on snow conditions. Those wishing to explore the region by bicycle can use cycle route No. 6260, which runs through the Rožnov Valley and Dolní Bečva.

Sport at the Golf Course and Along the Bečva

Valašský golfový klub operates a public nine-hole golf course. It is also open to golfers without a golf proficiency certificate. The Valašský golfový klub complex lies in the cadastral area of the municipality of Dolní Bečva; its grounds also contain two tennis courts. The sports complex along the Bečva has a beach sports centre. This means that, in addition to mountain trails, the village offers specific sports activities in various forms, without requiring you to commit to just one activity.

Village Culture and Regional Specialities

The local buildings include a wooden bell tower, regarded as an architecturally interesting structure. Dolní Bečva also has buildings featuring traditional folk architecture. In the Horní Rozpité valley stands a brick chapel with a bell, built in 1848. The parish Church of Saint Anthony of Padua was built and consecrated in 1907.

Regional cuisine is also part of the village’s character. VKP operates a factory outlet in Dolní Bečva offering sausages directly from the producer, traditional slaughterhouse specialities, as well as fresh pork, beef and chicken. At the VALAŠSKÉ DOBROTY stalls, visitors can try regional Wallachian specialities such as sheep’s cheese, Korbáčiky and Frgál. A neighbourhood tasting of homemade sauerkraut is held repeatedly in Dolní Bečva. The fourth edition took place on 24 January 2026; another edition was announced for January 2027.

Bus route 762 runs from Rožnov pod Radhoštěm via Dolní Bečva towards Pustevny. The timetable is valid from 14 December 2025 to 12 December 2026.
