Horni Lidec
Horni Lidec is a destination for travelers who want to combine culture and landscape in a compact town. The mechanical Betlém Horní Lideč, the multimedia exhibition Trezor přírody, and several educational trails give your stay different focal points. You can choose between an exhibition that can be visited year-round, nature-related topics, and paths through the Valašsko landscape.
Culture with Moving Figures and Regional Motifs
The Betlém Horní Lideč is an exhibition open year-round and can be visited throughout the year. The size of the mechanical Betlém is particularly impressive: It comprises 230 figures, including 75 moving figures. The exhibition therefore presents not only a collection of individually carved works, but also a mechanical ensemble with many different depicted scenes.
The Betlém also includes more than 100 carved buildings, representing, among other things, notable places in the Zlínský kraj. Another cultural event held in Horní Lideč every year on September 28 is a pilgrimage. The fixed date of September 28 complements the year-round visit to the Betlém with an annual recurring occasion.
Natural Treasures from Four Protected Areas
The Trezor přírody Horní Lideč offers a different focus. The modern multimedia exhibition uses a large-screen projection and presents natural treasures from the four protected landscape areas “Bílé Karpaty,” “Biele Karpaty,” “Beskydy,” and “slovenské Kysuce.” As an interactive exhibition, the Trezor přírody also explains the reasons for protecting the landscape in an entertaining way. This allows the visit to focus on nature and landscape conservation without being limited to a simple route description. With its large-screen projection, interactive elements, and four protected areas, the Trezor forms another exhibition focus in the town alongside the mechanical Betlém.
Educational Trails from the Train Station and Through Hilly Terrain
For active excursions, the Vařákovy paseky educational trail follows a clearly described route: It begins at the train station in Horní Lideč, follows yellow- and blue-marked paths via Lačnov, and returns to Lidečko. The educational trail is 15 kilometers long and runs through hilly terrain with local climbs.
The Pulčínská cesta educational trail also starts at the Horní Lideč train station. It runs via the Pulčín crossroads to the information center in Pulčín. Along the way, it passes through a hilly landscape with pastures and beautiful views. In terms of content, this educational trail focuses primarily on the Valašsko landscape. Thus, the two trails have different focal points: Vařákovy paseky describes a 15-kilometer route via Lačnov and back to Lidečko, while Pulčínská cesta leads via Pulčín to an information center and addresses the landscape of the Valašsko region.
