Mistřice – nature trail, chapels and historic traces

Mistřice combines a varied landscape with remarkable traces of history. At its heart is the “Po hranici devíti katastrů” nature trail, which runs from Mistřice to the Hrabiny area above Pašovice. It is complemented by the “Chapel of the Holy Trinity”, the Baroque chapel in Javorovec and historic crosses, which give individual places a distinctive cultural depth. A nature trail through landscape and history

The “Po hranici devíti katastrů” nature trail is approximately 9 km long and leads through the Prakšická vrchovina highlands. This landscape is considered rich in fauna and flora. The route passes near Rovná hora, the highest point, which extends into the nature reserve of the same name. Thus, while travelling along the trail, the focus is not only on the individual stops but also on the connections between the landscape features.

The nature trail is well signposted, making it easy to navigate. More than ten educational panels, information boards and signposts accompany the route. The trail is also suitable for cycling tourism, appealing to different ways of exploring the surrounding area. At the start of the nature trail above Mistřice, you can visit Bilavčíkův kříž. This place also has a historical dimension: according to historical sources, the cross is associated with a location where a battle may have taken place between the troops of the Bohemian King Jiřík of Poděbrady and the Hungarian King Matthias Corvinus.

Chapels with a history of their own

The “Chapel of the Holy Trinity” in Mistřice dates from 1874 to 1883. Its construction began in 1874, was interrupted by a devastating fire and was completed in 1883. It was consecrated on 10 November 1884. Inside are paintings by the artist Kubíček, as well as statues of the Virgin Mary, Saint Wenceslas, Saint Florian, Saint Teresa and Saint Anne. The chapel therefore offers a tangible cultural point of interest away from larger attractions.

Javorovec also adds its own historical monuments to the picture. A Baroque chapel stands there, commissioned by the family of František Josef Bulín above his brick-built tomb. It is dedicated to the Virgin Mary; this dedication is considered an expression of gratitude for the end of a plague epidemic. Above Javorovec, on the old road to Uherské Hradiště, there is also a cross dating from 1740. Its cryptogram is written in Old Czech and makes the historical heritage of this place immediately visible.
