Discover Vědomice

Vědomice combines riverside landscapes, cycle paths, community life and notable traces of local history. This gives you a range of different starting points for a trip: you can experience nature by the river, discover local history and explore the surrounding area using bus and rail connections.

Elbe, floodplain forest and cycle path

The Labská stezka, cycle path No. 2 and part of EuroVelo 7, runs along the right bank of the Elbe through Vědomice. Its classification as cycle path No. 2 and EuroVelo 7 also makes this section part of a transregional cycle-path network. Vědomice also has a public sports and recreation area on the Labe. A floodplain forest borders the Elbe in Vědomice, while mixed forests form the northern boundary of the village. The riverbank, floodplain forest and northern forest edge create distinct landscapes between water and woodland. For planning your day, these areas can be given different priorities: the cycle path and sports area are the focus along the Elbe, while the northern forest edge forms a second type of landscape. Activity by the water and proximity to the forest thus provide two clearly distinct focal points within the village.

Chapel and local history

The Baroque gate of the former Lobkowicz estate is a cultural monument in Vědomice. The Chapel of the Virgin Mary is also one of the village’s defining features. It was ceremonially consecrated by a priest on 24 July 2010. Its base contains a time capsule with messages for future generations. The chapel thus adds its own temporal accent alongside the Baroque gate and the older traces of the former estate.

Vědomice’s history also reaches further back. A manor farm in Vědomice is documented in the estate register of 1592. In 1579, the foundations were laid for the creation of four pheasant enclosures; two of them were located in the territory of Vědomice. The former estate farm, the Baroque gate and the historical records thus provide several different approaches to the village’s past.

Sports and connections

The SK SAHARA Vědomice sports club has a football section and a pétanque section. The SK SAHARA Vědomice football pitch is located on Lesní in Vědomice. Football and pétanque give community life two different sporting dimensions. Alongside the riverside landscape and cultural attractions, local community life is therefore also a concrete part of the village’s character.

Bus connections link Vědomice with Roudnice nad Labem and Litoměřice. The ČD railway station in Roudnice nad Labem is 2 km from Vědomice and offers connections to Prague and Ústí nad Labem. For planning your trip, bus journeys to the two towns and rail connections to Prague or Ústí nad Labem can be considered separately. This allows you to combine destinations in the surrounding area with train journeys in different directions.
