Travčice: Cultural Heritage, River Landscapes and Cycling Routes

Travčice combines traces of culture with a flat river landscape. The area lies at the confluence of two rivers, and around a quarter of the approximately 500-hectare area of Travčice and Nučničky is forested. As a result, a stay offers a variety of impressions side by side: historic buildings in the village, paths through an open landscape, and excursions that can be explored by bicycle or on foot. When choosing accommodation, you can therefore consider whether you mainly want to discover local history, use cycling connections, or experience the landscape at a leisurely pace.

Cultural Heritage in the Village

The Chapel of the Holy Trinity was built between 1840 and 1851 in memory of a cholera epidemic in the region. The building is rectangular and has a semicircular apse. It is precisely this manageable, clearly recognizable form that makes the chapel a tangible starting point for exploring the history of Travčice. It adds a 19th-century testimony to the impression made by the landscape.

Another distinctive building is Guardhouse No. 52. It is listed among the immovable cultural monuments in the Litoměřice administrative district. It was built around 1784 in the Classicist style, while the new village was being constructed. Its courtyard-facing façade is particularly characteristic: it widens into an arcade behind which windows and doors are set in stone frames. Anyone paying attention to architectural forms and details during a walk through the village will find here a distinctly different historical accent from the chapel.

The listed farmstead No. 91 in Travčice also includes the gate. Together with the guardhouse and the chapel, this detail shows that the history of the village can be read not only in individual major buildings. Ferry and Cycling Connections

The Nučničky–Nučnice ferry carries bicycles and strollers. This is important for route planning when different modes of transport or an outing with children need to fit together. The connection can be combined with the Elbe Cycle Route and EuroVelo 7 between Litoměřice and Roudnice nad Labem via Terezín. In addition, the Labská stezka 2A cycling route continues via Nučničky to Terezín. This allows you to determine the length and focus of an excursion based on the connection you want, without limiting your stay exclusively to the sights in the village.

Bowling and a Goulash Tradition

Travčice also offers a distinctive option for a day less focused on monuments: the local cultural centre has two bowling lanes, installed in 2006. In addition, the 27th edition of a goulash-cooking competition has been announced. The programme includes the sale and tasting of goulash. The competition thus combines a local tradition with a public event, while bowling offers another form of shared leisure activity.
