Hiking to the Hrad Košťálov Ruin

A red-marked hiking trail leads from Třebenice město railway station to the castle or castle ruin of Hrad Košťálov. The route is approximately 3.3 km long. Garnets and Castles at the Museum

The Museum of Bohemian Garnets in Třebenice presents the extraction and processing of Bohemian garnets, as well as a collection of jewellery made from Bohemian garnets. Since 2014, the same museum building has also housed the permanent exhibition Castles of the Bohemian Uplands. The exhibition complements the focus on extraction and processing with the history of the castles of the Bohemian Uplands. It uses virtual 3D models of castles, adding an illustrative digital perspective to the region’s history.

The Třebenický kancionál

An exceptional artefact is the Třebenický kancionál. It was produced between 1574 and 1578 for the association of church singer-literati and comprises 490 parchment leaves and 29 images. Through its date of origin, scope and images, the work connects ecclesiastical cultural history with a specific historical object. The kancionál can be viewed by the public in digitised form. This allows the historical work to be explored independently of an on-site visit.

Chapel, Ruins and Mountains in the Surrounding Area

The local history includes the early Baroque Cemetery Chapel of the Holy Trinity in Třebenice. It dates from 1692 to 1696 and has a wooden bell tower. In the immediate vicinity of Třebenice are Hrádek, Hradek Oltářík and Hazmburk, all classified as ruins. The mountains Košťál and Třešnovka are also located nearby. The mountains Lovoš and Kuzov, as well as Sukoslav, classified as a ruin, are additionally situated in the surroundings of Třebenice.
