If you are planning a stay in the Czech Republic, you can weigh local history, events, and regional orientation here.
Cultural Monuments in the Town Center
Encovany Castle stands in the center of the town of the same name and is protected as a cultural monument. The Chapel of the Holy Guardian Angels is also part of the local cultural heritage and has been protected as a cultural monument since 1958. The small religious building was constructed between 1815 and 1855 in the Neoclassical style. Its Neoclassical form and construction period between 1815 and 1855 create a distinct architectural accent alongside the castle. For your planning, the current access status is important: The chapel is currently open to the public only during community events.
Traditions and Events
On September 9, 2023, the Sousedská slavnost was held for the fifth time; that year, it was moved from the log cabin to the town center. Its program included a traditional demonstration of firefighting equipment by the Volunteer Fire Brigade of the Municipality of Polepy, featuring three emergency vehicles, as well as an informative first-aid presentation with the opportunity to practise on a training mannequin. The combination of the demonstration and first-aid exercise combines watching with hands-on participation.
The O pohár Vodníka Encovanského competition is described as another tradition of Encovany. In this competition, children and adults took part in different competition sections. Čarodějnice is described in Encovany as the first community and cultural event of the new season. At Encovanský dětský den 2022, children walked along a pond and completed various tasks at a total of eight stations. At the children's festival, the path by the pond and the eight stations created a clearly structured sequence; in the competition, different sections separated the contributions of children and adults.
