For hikers, the “Studánková naučná stezka” nature trail is a particularly tangible point of reference. It links several springs along the route between Olšany and Vítovice via Červený vrch. The trail has nine information stops and begins in Olšany’s village square. It ends at a pond in Rousínov-Vítovice. The route can therefore be understood not merely as a short walk in the village, but as a clearly described connection with a beginning, a course and a destination. The springs, Červený vrch and the nine information panels each provide their own points of orientation along the way.

Cycling and unusual details

Olšany is also connected to a larger network for cycle tours. A route in the local cycle network runs through the village. It connects to regional cycle route B from Hradec Králové to Břeclav, which passes through Slavkov, and then to the long-distance “Jantarová stezka” cycle route. A remarkable natural feature can be found in the local quarry: small and large, almost regular stone spheres are still visible in its wall. The Chapel of Saint John the Baptist was built in Olšany in 1886. In addition, the film “Dědictví aneb Kurvahošigutntág”, starring Bolek Polívka, was shot here in the summer of 1992. Together with the Olšany Cultural Centre, which has a cultural hall with a stage for balls, theatre performances, local celebrations and tastings, this creates a cultural profile that extends beyond purely landscape experiences.
