Discover Nýrov: Cycle Paths, Hradisko and Regional Traditions

Nýrov brings together marked paths, memorial sites, landscapes and regional traditions within a compact thematic area. The place is particularly appealing if you would like to combine cycling, hikes and discoveries of cultural history. There are also events offering routes of different lengths, as well as the Nýrovský Slivkošt, which adds its own culinary accent.

Cycle Paths and Marked Routes

The two cycle paths 5142 and 5144 cross in Nýrov. This means that two designated connections can serve as starting points for a cycling tour. Marked tourist routes also lead through the village on foot. The blue-marked route runs along the Letovice – Nýrov – Rudka – Kunštát – Sychotín – Touboř – Kunice – Bedřichov route and continues onward. The green-marked route leads from Kunštát via Nýrov, Jasinov and Vranová to Křetín and onward. The two different routes give your excursion planning a clear direction without requiring you to commit to just one form of transport.

Hradisko and the Partisan Dugout

A prominent landscape feature is Hradisko, a spur located approximately 1.5 km southeast of Nýrov above the valley of the Nýrovský potok. The partially deforested hill offers views of Sebranice and the Svitava valley. The Partisan dugout lies in the forest below Hradisko and can be reached via a turnoff from the marked hiking trail. A monument nearby commemorates six fallen soldiers. Another memorial plaque for the victims of the Second World War is located inside the dugout. It is 2 km from the bus stop and can be reached via the green-marked tourist route.

During the restoration of the Partisan dugout in 2021, a bench and a new information board were added, among other improvements. This brings landscape, remembrance and a documented historical trace together directly at the site. Hradisko provides the landscape setting, while the dugout and monument shape the content of the visit.

Memorial Sites and Small Landmarks in Nýrov

There are also several specific points of interest in the village itself. A memorial plaque on a school building commemorates Antonín Pěta, who was executed by the German occupiers on 22 February 1945 because of his participation in the anti-fascist resistance. A monument to the victims of the First and Second World Wars also stands on the village green near the municipal office. A small bell tower in Nýrov has been restored, adding another visible element to these local landmarks.

Events and Regional Traditions

The Pochod Halasovým Kunštátskem offers routes of 7 km, 15 km, 25 km and 42 km. Editions from 2024 and 2025 are documented for this event. The various route lengths make the Pochod a clearly defined occasion for different hiking plans without presupposing a specific current edition. Kunštát and Letovice are starting points for travelling to Nýrov. Travel options include public bus connections operated by IDS JMK or a train journey to Letovice zastávka station followed by a walk to Nýrov.

The Nýrovský Slivkošt competition adds its own regional character. The documented categories are plum brandy 2025, other spirits 2025, as well as archived plum brandies and other archived spirits. The competition welcomes both participants and guests interested in slivovice. Anyone looking for accommodation in Nýrov can plan their stay around cycle paths, marked routes, commemorative culture or regional spirits traditions.

Historical Trace near Újezd

Near Újezd, a presumably unfinished 13th-century castle complex is described. This reference broadens the cultural perspective beyond Nýrov's immediately visible landmarks without defining the character of the complex more precisely than the description allows.
