Discover Němčice

Němčice combines the landscape of the Drahanská vrchovina with visible traces of regional history and several routes for active exploration. The village lies in the southwestern part of the Drahanská vrchovina. At the same time, the southeastern part of the cadastral area borders the Moravian Karst. This brings together wooded landscapes, hiking connections and cultural destinations – an interesting basis if you would like to combine nature experiences and sightseeing on your trip.

Forests, Water and Trails around Němčice

Forests consisting predominantly of conifers surround Němčice on two sides. This setting offers opportunities for walks in nature. East of the village, near the forest, there is a multipurpose water reservoir that is considered a popular area for health, relaxation and leisure. The reservoir therefore forms a distinct landscape focal point alongside the forest trails and historical destinations in the village.

A yellow-marked hiking trail passes through Němčice along the Valchov–Němčice–Sloup–Macocha Abyss–Skalní mlýn route. The hiking trails passing through the village belong to the extensive tourist network of the Moravian Karst. Those who would like to explore the region's landscape during their stay will therefore find not just a single walking trail here, but a connection to a larger tourist trail structure. For planning purposes, it is important that Němčice is described as a stop along this signposted route; no specific distances or walking times are implied.

Cyclists can also consider various routes. Local cycle route 5117 runs outside the built-up area along the western side of the cadastral area of Němčice on the Blansko–Petrovice–Boskovice route. At the southwestern tip of the cadastral area, cycle route 5204 connects to route 5117 and continues via Kuničky and Újezd u Boskovic to Boskovice. Hiking and cycling experiences can thus be considered as different focal points without combining the two routes into a single route.

Church, Windmill and a Geological Memorial Site

The Church of St. Nicholas stands in an elevated position in the center of Němčice. Its tower contains two bells from the 16th century. The church, which belongs to the municipality, has been classified as a cultural monument of the Czech Republic since 1993. It is therefore a particularly clearly documented destination for a village tour, combining its location, architectural history and regional cultural heritage.

Another historical detail is the Němčice windmill. It was built in 1840 by the miller Matuška. West of Němčice, above the Pálenec forester's lodge, there is also Skalka. This is the site of an occurrence containing a narrow strip of Devonian limestone. Iron ore was mined at this location in the late 18th and 19th centuries. The windmill and Skalka thus point to two different aspects of the village's history: the former milling industry and the use of geological resources.

An Excursion Destination for Different Interests

In the surroundings of Němčice, Dům přírody Moravského krasu offers interactive indoor and outdoor exhibitions as well as a 3D cinema. This destination complements the trails, forests and historical sites with an exhibition-based perspective on the Moravian Karst. Depending on your interests, you can therefore combine your stay with nature trails, regional history, cycling routes or an engaging exhibition.
